No, you're obviously confusing him with John Huijbers. |

Different artists, similar sound. |

Wow. I Hate aviccii too but I'm not sure I would publicly write that. John represents a lot more than himself at this time in his life. He needs to focus on his work and job with oakenfold and not start unnecessary drama.
However it is about time these new "artists" (button jockeys) BJ's are put in their place. |

There's three things going on here;
1, John has decided to put something out there controversial to get himself some publicity (note current projects).
2, He's drumming up his own fan support for trance and at the same time distancing himself from commercial dance pop.
3, There's obviously a genuine (butt)hurt he's feeling from plugging away for 15 odd years only to have a talentless 19 year old, mess with a few presets on some cracks and make more money in a year than John has done in a career.
In fairness, he's actually right to do so - what most people don't understand is the politics going on behind the scenes with relation to bookings and agents etc. The precedents it's set (along with SHM and that abhorrent ilk) is actually incredibly bad for the scene and the DJ marketplace as a whole.
They are giving DJ's and EDM a bad name (that why I always refer to that rubbish as commercial dance pop, not EDM or god forbid, House) and they are making a concerted effort to make promoters and noobs alike think $400k for 2hours of prerecorded dross (with Fistpumping at additional cost) is what clubbing and dance music is about.
The timing of this though is because it's over for Avicii so john has everything to gain by slating someone who's about to tumble from popularity. |

i disagree. It works in the short run. It is just ugly , it robs you of any integrity and say what you want about a concept alluring to certain people but this is just pathetic and makes him look pathetic.
The people that go see avicci are the same people going to see newtown or was it o town. They don't care. This only makes him look bad.
At least Dadmau5 did it without naming actual people. That created buzz without looking pathetic.
There was way too much effort put into that rant. Another reason why big djs should have every single tweet or post sent to their publicist before print. This is obviously a case of him being drunk and high doing something with his buddies they all thought would be funny.
Never talk about anyone. This is rule number 1. You just don't do it. It will never work for you in the long run. It can only backfire. |

This unfortunately could not be more true. My big break was ruined by, believe it or not, a tranceaddict post. Kenneth Thomas tried to slam me into the ground when he got wind that I was going to meet oakenfold regarding an Internet radio proposal (this was a long time ago when oakenfold was still a top 5 dj) the basic idea revolved around selling "virtual" tickets to listeners all over the world. At the time, this had not been done and was not done until many years. After a good conference with Paul, the egil, and one of music industry gurus (we were unsure of the royalty implications) I was set to fly to LA.
Kenneth got wind of it and forwarded a tranceaddict post I made a long time ago dismissing Paul as a washed up has been coke head. I haven't spoken to him since and it's been nearly a decade.
Point being, there is nothing good that can come from this. Askew may one day be in a position where he needs avicii's blessing/approval/companionship and he likely will not get it. Ironically askew has become oakenfold a right hand man, doing his Facebook and twitter and even some writing for him, but oakenfold is close to retirement. Askew is going to have to find a new gig in a few years and stuff like this can come back to haunt you for the rest of your life. I will always wonder what could have been.... Sucks |

People say like this, try and make a song like him and fail. |
