Here's a good one to get him in the loop:

Um, yes it is, actually. It's basically a house record with Deetron's usual ultra-polished production values, a rap accapella and some old electro funk synth stabs. It even has your bog standard deep house piano chord progression towards the end.

And just to prove my point as to how middle of the road and/or loaded with Detroit cliches his recent stuff is, voila:

The guy is a follower, not an innovator. That's probably why he hasn't gone on to the same worldwide fame as some of his colleagues. Like I said before, however, he's doing just fine for himself despite that.

The track screams Disco and early 80's, you're just being stubborn.

Sandleaper is pretty much right on the money...

If you start worrying about artists who aren't receiving as much attention as you think they should, you're going to spend your whole life worried.

I'm not worried, it was just an observation.

I'll concede that I might be picky, but you are way too easily impressed if this tune constitutes "eclecticism" in your book.

This is true. Plus, whatever actually constitutes enough attention continues to be undefined. Also when underground artists garner enough attention (or big label marketing money) to cross-over to the mainstream they have to cater to what everyone wants from them so their sound changes to whatever is most popular at the moment, roughly 95% of the time. It's a paradox but "underrated" artists have much more creative freedom than big name, major label artists garnering mainstream attention.

his latest release is definitely not detroit techno... but maybe you are right sand leaper and collectively he is subjected to that style by everybody. however, that being said, as a dj, together with his experience, i think he proves everyone and everybody that he's very versatile and well rounded. i mean, like you said he's doing just fine and i think so too, he's getting all the attention he deserves and more as of late.

in any case, his ra podcast was my soundtrack of the spring/summer last year!

oh and matthew herbert is one to watch! amazing.

Again, I wasn't talking about him as a producer only.
