Just cracked out the ol' JP8080... 140 saw waves in a single note.

Skip to 3:13 for Double Unison - 140 saw waves (2 layers * 10 voices each * 1 Supersaw * 7 saw waves stacked). Both unison stacks are detuned and panned a bit.

Everything is JP8080 except for some third party reverb / delay. NO compression, limiter, etc.

:eyespop: Still sounds nice after these years

lulz. I agree that will happen.

People will still be trying to emulate the Supersaw? Perhaps try to emulate every little digital artifact, crackle and click? :haha:

Everyone knows you need at least 400 saws.

I'll always have a soft spot for the supersaw.

That's interesting. Most usually like the double unison. I'm glad someone enjoys the non-unison version. You might be the first so far.

unison rarely sounds well. always s up the raw sound, on all synths ive owned really. some plugins are more subtle though.

It would be valuable if you could describe the characteristics of what makes a bad unison, and also what am I looking for in this demo? Some kind of artifact, click, clashing of frequencies?

Thanks

Price vs output, I think my JP8000 is the only instrument I'll never get rid of. Unless the price jumps to greater than $1,000 USD. I've had and sold A LOT of synths...... Plus just playing with that board... it's a piece of trance history.

I have a patch for the G2 that sounds identical to the jp8000. I don't have the original so i cant 'do an A/B but ya, it sounds a little better which i suppose gives it away as the jp had this brittle sound you needed to eq.

And there is a point much like distortion with guitars that you have too much distortion. Sometimes piggy packing that really thick lead with a saw that has less unison and more definition will sound a lot better.
