Are you guys with a bigger camp or on your own?
Either way, the biggest mistake I made early on was failing to pack enough warm clothes. It can get really cold at night and you don't want to be freezing your ass off. Sometimes it's comfortable (usually after the REALLY hot days), but other times it can get down to the low 40's and it can really cramp your partying if you're not warm enough.
Spend some time at Robot Heart. Lots of time actually. They've always been great but last year they took their sound system to the next level, and with their music policy being so on point I can't really describe how profoundly amazing it felt to be dancing in front of that bus.
Also, be prepared for a nonstop barrage of insanely hot women wearing basically nothing all day long. It's ing ridiculous, so if your lady is sensitive you might have to take precautions. ;)
Man I wish I was going this year... |

Billy who are you camping with? You should be camping with Music Savages. Def spend lots of time at robot heart!!! Biggest regret for me when i went was partying to much and not seeing enough of the art and all around craziness.
You def need a bike.
Also I would suggest buying a backpack cooler. I always left a party because I was dying to get a beer. Bring lots of beer. |

I've never been, but have plenty of friends who have, and I wouldn't put too much emphasis on hanging with people you know. BM is the most nomadic parties you can get and the whole spirit is about exploring.
One tip - find out where carl Cox will be. It's his favourite event to play and he always kills it.
Another tip, if you get a bike, make sure it's something you don't care about throwing away. A few days in the desert kills them.
Another tip, Sunscreen, and industrial sizes of it. Sounds lame but my friend got burned so bad (and he's even got dark skin) that it was painful to go outside for weeks.
Another tip, take some decent food. My friend bought just cheap with him and after 3 days of partying and bad food he was wishing he had something better to munch.
Another tip, when you leave, either go early or wait until everyone else has left; my other friend ended up taking 5 hours just to leave the dustbowl. He was the only person alive enough to drive and even then he was kinds wasted. Ended up falling asleep at the wheel during the jam and slowly hit the car in front with their RV. $1500 of damage for a 3mph crash. |

Read the first timers guide thoroughly on the website for all of your packing tips and what to bring.
Come see Michael and I do the sunrise set at the Music Savages on Saturday morning:D
Carl Cox is not going this year, nor is Opulent Temple. I talked to Mr. Cox about it at EDC, he is taking a year off and planning on doing his own sound camp in 2014.
Participate!!! Dress up, bring gifts, etc.
Light yourself up, its dark and you don't want to get hit by an art car or another bike.
Its dusty, get over it as soon as you can, there is nothing you can do to prevent from getting dirty.
You need a bike, but walk around the city. Its the best way to stumble into random camps doing random things and meeting the most random people you can imagine.
Robot Heart is cool, but not THAT cool. Although they seem to think they are by taking their party into deep playa every night and playing cooler music than every other camp (according to them). Their music policy is pretty consistent, which is kind of lame. Basically, everybody on there is playing the same at 120BPM all night every night. Definitely catch a sunrise or two with them, but don't get stuck at the Robot Heart all week |

| How could I forget Distrikt! You need to spend at least one or two afternoons there(they only do day parties). They play the best music and have the highest energy I have experienced on the playa. And they have a bar! And its right across the corner from us music savages |
