Well said. I really miss the Spin Saturday nights with one big headliner and a MO open/close. I can't believe I'm saying that now since I really took it for granted 5 or so years back.
I shouldn't feel this old at 26 damn it :(. |

That's actually the funniest part of this thread. Everyone around here expresses their displeasure/amusement for almost every long weekend lineup and it usually includes people posting old lineups to show how good it used to be. Don't get me wrong, these threads are still funny but so expected now :p

Guv may disappear but Ink and their bookings won't. You'll see the same lineups at Sound Academy when Guv shuts its doors I bet. As long as Ink still exists and these "djs" still draw then they'll still be booked in Toronto and we'll still bitch and moan :stongue: |

If you think this is funny check out how excited these noobs are on a Facebook group called Toronto Rave Community. Just the name of the group makes me laugh.
And yes I would rather drink acid than spend $100 dollars to stand in a cramped sweatbox for 11 hours full of pushy s, watching a DJ? dance around an elevated box like a mindless retard to a prerecorded set that will be played in 20 different cities.
What is the difference between a prerecorded set by most, not all, but most DJ in a club and a podcast/radio show? One is free and the other costs a cover charge. The lasers and the sound system in a club as opposed to a stereo at home.
I'm really starting to show my age, but I agree, the sooner back to the underground the better, and THANK GOD for people in this city that still book legitimate artists or else I would hate dance music outright. |

INK's move to "mainstream/cheese", although it isn't my cup of tea, I totally understand why they've done it.
INK has never cared about throwing a party. They care about making money. So if they can make money with commercial instead of underground, they'll do it. If you had their bills, you would do the same.
Why fight for the same tech/house artists that other promoters/clubs are bidding on? Who else is really doing commercial/cheese these days? It's a smart move on their part. |
