Orkidea taught me what electronic music is 14-15 years ago, nice to finally catch him here in New York.
I've heard good things about "Pure Trance" parties from Europe, don't think this would be an exception. I'd be a fool to miss this one. |

Maybe I don't like the same style as trance as some do but I thought the Pure Trance party in Miami during WMC this year was ing terrible. Solarstone and Ottaviani played the most fairy tale, vocal cornball homo trance sets that I could ever imagine. Then John 00 Fleming came on and overcompensated by playing extremely hard bangers for his entire set which was just exhausting to listen to. I'd honestly rather have gone to an Afrojack show or something. Worst ever choice by me for a WMC party. Carl Craig at FDR, Scuba/Cirez D show at Pickle, among countless others were going on at the same time and here I was at this fest.
Markus Schulz on the other hand played one sublime trance set at Space the Sunday night beforehand, going 10 hours and just dropping classic 138 bpm bangers while mixing in his reconstructions of current techno tracks. Was mindblowing. |

Also,
I really am not going to see SolarStone or Ottaviani this Friday. I'm going there for Orkidea. It might not be Unity, Jack, Illusions or Hallmark party and it's not held in Uunisaari, Kaapelitehdas or Lepakko and the parties are not what they were 10 years ago but it's close enough for me. Have seen him only once in the past 5 years so this is actually kind of a big deal for me. |
