Great Party awesome music by all 3 DJs, the only thing that bartender a the bar closer to the Stage total rip off, she took over 20% tip for no reason!
Any way, the night was really cool!

I would've told her to go herself and ask for the manager.

This happened to me once at Pacha.

Hmmm happened to me too!
I checked the bill, it said tip is included, I added no extra tip and even wrote down the total again for the exact amount. Credit card was charged 20% extra on top of that, opened a dispute with amex.

edit: reading some comments here their tipping policy is a shady one http://www.yelp.com/biz/santos-party-house-new-york

edit2: it is possible that the bill stated only the "before tip" amount clearly as the total charge, and the extra 20% just appeared on the CC afterwards according to some small print; in any case very shady pricing and the total i signed on was different than was charged on my CC

edit3: AMEX customer service was top notch again, they issued automatic credit for the disputed amount :)

That sucks...
When I went for SP they charged $12 for "top shelf" drinks.

Damn, that's near Marquee prices lol... Good thing I usually pre-game somewhere and only have 2-3 beers at Santos to keep the buzz running.

so, with those prices, why do people bother?
obviously, most still do, or else places like SPH, which CLEARLY does not mainly cater to the money snob crowd, wouldn't be able to sell much at all.

With all the comments on the EZoo thread about the people that "can't even enjoy the music without getting spun on xyz", the boozing is beginning to sound a lot like that too, no?

with prices like 16 for some mixer, I'd say f that, and leave the alc. on the shelf...

lots of disposable cash around still, it would seem

Yup, obviously ppl are paying that kind of money for drinks or else they wouldn't be priced so high, unless the venue is making a bad business decision. But I dont think having a couple of cocktails is the equivalent of "boozing" either, there's a happy medium. And just being in this scene and going to shows is a luxury in itself....all the money spent at shows is disposable, none of this is actually "important" in the grand scheme.

Not to mention water/soda was $5 and had to splurge on that necessity too... all in all yes unnecessary money to spend in general
Can't wait for hockey season so I can enjoy overpriced beer at MSG

Thanks! That's sweet that someone remembers, it seems like a lifetime ago when I went to crobar and avalon summer '05

I rarely go out (or post here) anymore, Orkidea was a special occasion, as well as Prydz coming up!
Getting old and being more selective on the times I do go out :p
