Why do my tracks sound muddy? Above and Beyond's don't! Oscilloscope Confrims!

Hi there,

I created some tracks using Cubase and I love how they sound. However, my only problem is that they are a little "muddy" sounding.

I believe this is due to the mixing portion of my projects...

I compared my tracks to Above and Beyond's tracks using a oscilloscope and it confirmed this was the case; or so I think. My frequencies weren't very organized, while their tracks had a almost symmetrical slope (for example when the kick hit - beautiful).

Any tips? This is the one thing that confuses me... Like how am I supposed to make all of my tracks sound sonically the same? If you're always using different sound, it seems impossible...

Any advice would be much appreciated :)

Kill your oscilloscope and use those two flaps hanging off the side of your head. ;)

BTW, UofM sucks. :)

First of all why are you comparing your tracks with above and beyond?

I guess you need to use the same loops, effects presets and synth presets on all of your tracks:conf:

Only someone as retarded as you would call this fair enough for originality. If i was comparing my tracks to someone else I would consider broad range of artists not just one.

did i ever say it was original? you should learn how to read over again.

what i sayd was if thats whats he like then of course he are in his right mind to try to sound like it isnt he?

also what i said was you are not the right person to say to someone else being unoriginal because you are one of the least originals around here. everything you do is based on factory presets and loops, online trance-tutorials and the most obvious peaces of gear of all, and finally all your meanings are just based on what someone else says. you are a true puppet on a string.

Learn to spell first of all Mr autistic, If i'm not the right person who can say what originality then you tell me who is. Give me about 5 people on this production forum who are original enough to tell which artists are original and who isn't it which is retarded enough as it sounds.

I make my own presets and use others at the same time which is quire fair. I haven't used a tutorial in years. I only posted in the theory section to find out my pads were harmonized to begin with.

Yeah a voyager and an access virus 2 are the most obvious pieces of gear, what a re you lost?

Tell me where are my meanings said by some one else?

Stop Looking.

Start Listening.

Why do you think your tracks sound muddy??? You say you "love how they sound" - so whats the problem?

Thank you for your input, but unfortunately there hasn't been any actual advice given...

1. I LOVE Above & Beyond, but I am not trying to sound like them. I am trying to figure out how they get their music so dynamic, all while keeping it nice, crisp, and type. I have done the same with Armin Van Buuren, Tiesto, etc... tracks. Just so I can compare my tracks to professional to see how I can get to that point.

2. I used the oscilloscope to confirm what my ears were hearing.

Any input would be greatly appreciated!!!

EDIT: Yes, I love how they are composed. I love the notes I played and how I structured each track... the sound of each track however differs from track to track, and some sound more muddy than others. It's the dynamic of the sound I am unsure of.
