| quote: | | The prototype presented at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show has a 22 kWh (79 MJ) lithium-ion battery pack that is expected to deliver between 130 to 160 km (80 to 100 mi) and the battery will take about four hours to fully charge from the 240-volt charging unit. The i3 is expected to go from 0 to 100 km/h (0 to 60 mph) in less than 8 seconds. |

I couldn't find performance ratios for BMW i3.

"Since Li-ion batteries contain no toxic metals (others contain lead and cadmium)[38] they are generally categorized as non-hazardous waste. Li-ion battery elements including iron, copper, nickel and cobalt are considered safe for incinerators and landfills. " (source:wiki)

Yeah except in style and overall aesthetics. If you're buying an electric car, I don't think you're really going for performance. |

still its like hairplus or cosmetic surgery. let someone else be the guinea pig for a while until they perfect the science. Hairplugs don't look so bad anymore but 10 yrs ago it looked like they were stapling brooms to peoples heads.
Let someone else step up and burn their cash until the development curve has reached its maturity stage. |

:haha: :haha: :haha: I was just gonna say that bit was downright hilarious from him.
In fact his entire special where he used that joke was baalin.
Anyways, good to know they are making progress. But like everyone else said, I don't have the money to support something that won't be perfected for another 5-10 years. |

Well, the BMW i8 has been spotted in camouflage, so at least some are. |

if they every plan on building THIS hybrid (production was scrapped in december '12) i would consider buying a hybrid.... the only sound i could ever consider sexier than the vroom vroom of a petrol engine, is the high pitched whine of a gas turbine...
the prius is the genital wart of the automotive industry...... completely uninspiring, that is unless you enjoy your vehicle sounding like the tractor beam from star trek while driving around..... |

The Model S looks horrifically lackluster in person, IMO, albeit I'm biased against electric cars.
Still, hopefully we get enough of these things out there that we might be able to prolong the availability of fuel for people who want to drive something that actually feels like a car instead of a dishwasher. Give me a petrol engine any day. |
