4 years ago, i was a different person with different tastes, so can't really blame the artists for changing their style too, but i feel the music for the most part has lost a lot of it's creativity.
there are still some guys out there though that still got it. :) |

if there's one thing that has stayed constant over the years ive been DJing and searching for tracks it's that less than 1% of the tracks i listen to are worth purchasing/listening to again
i dont think things have really changed in terms of creativity. i do think the audience has changed to be... ahem... tier, and so the actual good stuff just gets buried more often |

This.
One of the reasons I like other "underground" genres. Better music to listen/play IMO. |

| there was another Kimball Collins CD that I used to really love. from ICU... a lot of great tracks. Unfortunately, I noticed that a lot of other mixed CD's were coming out with the same tracks. It was almost the beginning of the end. |

The issue with the music nowadays is that it is totally accessible. I used to have to dig through piles of used CDs or order records online to find stuff to listen to. Gigs came through town very seldom, not like now where everyone is playing everywhere. A Wednesday night Paul van Dyk show at The Mayan was something I couldn't wait for or seeing Blank & Jones come to America for their first gig here. That anticipation is gone!
As far as all the washed up trance fans that "grew up" - you can all stand around like zombies at Avalon listening to Sasha packed in nestled up nicely with sweaty ass muscle dudes while I enjoy my high energy trance gig with 10 people. The music has changed but there are several trance producers that are keeping it all alive. Check out Eddie Bitar, Paul Webster and Arctic Moon. These guys are killing it and putting out excellent music and great sets on a regular basis.
Anyways, I feel like Dave T at this point so I will end it there! |
