thats what music is for s sake, its all about beats and rythm, if it wasnt formulatic it would be a mash of random sounds. ;) |

My mate was some vinyl of mish-mashed random sounds. Its quite evil and very odd.
Anyway, there havent been that many good qaulity trance tracks this year, techno, breaks and house seem to be the "in thing".

| I would agree, as of recently, there haven't been a whole lot of new trance releases. There are some progressive songs that are pretty nice, but if you don't have faith, get Nu-NRG's set of Orgasmatron, OMG that set is freaking awesome! :happy2: |

Im not trying to argue.....we ALLLLLLL have different tastes, but why the is Progressive so Dominant over Regular Trance :(

Progressive? What about good old hardcore?
Hardtrance just gets stuck at 145 BPM, but tempo junkies like me need at least a few new 175 BPM tracks a week to be able to breath :D |

Max, I think producers have become lazy across the board. Boring trance, boring progressive. It's all boring. Hearing formulaic build-up, break-down trance is just as bad as chugging prog beats with some squashed duck sounds thrown in. It's all e.
I must admit lately trance has had a mini rebirth. The talented producers are coming back, and with some fresh blood from young-uns, there's some really good work being done. James Holden, King Unique, Sasha, Darren Tate, Sapphirecut are names to look out for...
But try to expand your horizons a bit. Don't just follow the big-name producers. There's lots of great tracks being produced for small labels by little-known artists. Visit the local record shop and find them. :)
For my money, the really interesting stuff right now is in the house rack and nu-skool breaks rack. In fact, the only reason I pay attention to "genres" is because that's how they organize them at the record shop. I prefer to think of myself as just liking "good music" not necessarily trance, jungle, breaks, house, or whatever... |
