His music is actually still very good. Trouble is these days there are simply no "anthems" anymore.
He's a really bright flame int he middle of the daytime. Drowned out.
His "Our Dark Garden" song from a year or so ago is imo one of the best things he's ever done.
The guy could make anything he wanted with relative ease but I don't think he himself knows what the hell he wants to make.
I think he should really produce several different type of genres under different aliases and just see which he is vibing off the most. Then go with that.
Thinking back now though apart from a handful of tunes I don't think he's ever had many songs that stick around in charts or dj playlists (when you consider his actual output in total). He's a weird artist in that respect. |

| I liked Skylarking. It is a nice trance piece; warm and easy to listen during Summer time. Nothing special or unique about it but well produced. |

Hardcore claps followed by electro . Just my first thoughts.
Letting Go, I don't have words for it.
Title of the album:"These Hopeless Machines".
Skylarking is nice. |

I saw him in Detroit last night. His live performances trump his discs for sure. He nailed it.
I think he's more about the technology behind his tunes. (Stutter edit, csound, some new command line grain processor etc. )
ESCM is still the best if you ask me. |

| I wish people would stop clinging on to every new release by artists who have been awful for a decade or more. BT is never going to make another good dancefloor record. This Binary Universe alone was some sort of outrageous cosmic fluke. |

| I agree with system-j, BT has become an irrelevant face in the crowd offering little in the way of the originality for what now seems to be the majority of his career. That haircut is just terrible too... Does anyone remember that blog he kept of embarrassingly 'emo' word vomit? |

The thing is he has always produced crap and masterpieces in a similar time frame.
He has always worked with some great artists and some questionable ones.
He hasn't really changed imo in terms of his approach to music. He is still doing things the way he wants.
If he made another Godspeed or Flaming June or whatever he'd be no better off.
The guy is an incredible artist. I will admit most of his tracks I really don't like at all. But there is always a few that are killer.
No doubt he could write and produce a Seth Troxler style track on the ter using his iPhone's voice recorder.
The guy makes poppy tracks and serious tracks in almost equal measure and he always has. |
