if anyone noticed, i have a United Arab Emirates Flag in my profile...
i aint arab...im an Indian citizen, born and raised in the UAE and am still an Indian citizen...Im not yet a Canadian citizen cos ive been here for 2 years only so theres another 2 years left for me to be elligible...however, Im not sure whether i wanna become a canadian citizen...however i know for a fact that later on , when/if i get kids, im gonna tell them that they are canadian and to call themselves that only... because they will be canadian from birth...
USMC_Greg....i thikn i understand y its all confusing and irritating to u and im guessing that is cos u were born here and have lived here all ur life....almost all of us who have different flags were or are still landed immigrants.
i hope i cleared some confusion...im only tring to bring peace and tranquility back to this forum |

| I was born and raised in Russia. Now I live in Canada, so I consider myself Canadian, that's why I put Canadian flag. That doesn't mean however that I lost touch with my Russian heritage. I'm proud of having Russian/Jewish origins and definitely not planning on forgetting Russian language. Most of my friends are Russians as well. |

| I was born in Canada, but both my parents are Chinese... and yes, I admit... that its a shame that i can't speak chinese at all, or very well at least...i wish i could tho, even tho i went to some schooling as a child, i still can't speak or read much, but I want to try to change that. |

This is a perfect example of my point of view. I'm glad that everyone is cool now. I'm by no means telling anyone to forget their roots. I'm simply stating that when asked what your nationality is, one should say Canada. |

| ummmmmmmmm I had kicked his ass once (he kicked my cd case/discman, and noboyd does that so I walked over to him go, wtf are you doing picked him up and slammed his ass on the ground hard) but I'm not one to fight physically. Only if REALLY provoked...and I don't think anybody wants to see that... |

Yeah, i guess it's kind of hard then to settle your issues... maybe try to get a lock on your door, that way he can't do , but still you shouldn't have to go to those lengths. |

| You're right I shouldn't. It's ed man, he does for me (gives me rides and ) and hell I even go out with him if I am REALLY bored to some crap ass gino clubs (I mean there's a nice view...). What I don't get is whenever I do stuff w my friends, he NEVER comes out. Not ONCE. Wtf is that? It's always me making an "effort" to do in terms of giong out because he is my brother. He never does when it comes to I want. Selfish bastard. :o :rolleyes: Ah well, hopefully he'll grow up. |

i think this whole "multi-flag" thing can be more attributed to Toronto, Montreal, and Vancouver specifically ..
my girlfriend was born in China but was raised in Regina for most of her life so she's so white washed now she considers herself Canadian and not Chinese.. so really it's a personal point of view and preference and also matters where one was raised. I'm sure someone who considers themselves Italian, Chinese, Indian, etc. whatever now.. if they themselves have children here and their children have more children here .. by the 3rd or 4th generation i'm sure those kids will consider themselves more 'Canadian' than anything else.
so basically what i'm saying is that USMC_Greg i'm guessing that perhaps you're a 3rd generation Canadian or so which is probably why you feel this way and there's nothing wrong with it cuz that's your personal point of view and how you were raised. Most of the people here however are living in an ultra multicultural environment like Toronto which is why the mentality is slightly different and there is much more foreign nationalistic pride apart from Canadian patriotism..
I remember watching the fireworks at Ontario Place for Canada DAy here in TOronto .. among a crowd of thousands i counted maybe 3 Canadian flags ! heh .. (go figure??) :conf: |

| I was born & raised in canada, but i still consider myself italian. I learned italian b4 i learned english, and I've been living an italian lifestyle since i was born. As long as I'm living here, i'll consider myself an italian b/c that's what I am in my heart. However, whenever I visit my cousins in italy, I consider myself more canadian than italian. I guess it's because I don't feel quite canadian when i'm here and I'm not italian enough when i'm in italy. I'm basically a canadian who was raised to be an italian. I still love this counrty b/c when my dad came here 35 years ago he had nothing but a suitcase and $100 cash. Now he owns his own company. What other country would someone be able to do that in? |

i think a lotta ppl here feel the way too man .. i mean most of us are on this board have parents that were born in other ories so it's obviously not easy to lose touch with ur roots. but i still think that with enough time, if we all settle down here and have kids of our own, eventually after generations out lineage will consider themselves as "Canadians" of course unless they themselves emmigrate elsewhere especially in such a global society as it is today.. |
