Sorry dude, I'm not picking on you but I don't like the word "created". The universe wasn't "created". the universe is infinate and it's always been.
You're probobly just using the term loosly but still if you say that it was "created", then you suggest the existance of a supreme being. Which is of course bull!
This whole hubble telescope thing is a powerfull weapon in the hands of those less than maggot creationists who are trying to inject the poison of religion into science. So this whole age of the universe being determined is all just another arrogant attempt by the religious scum to suggest that the universe had a begining and there for will have an end.
Well I got news for all those maggots!
The universe Wasn't created. It has always been.
Again sorry for the outburst. Just a little sensitive about the issue. |
Most physicists these days suggest that the universe had a beginning (big bang), and may come to an end (big crunch). This isn't a wacko theory, it is probably the most popular theory mong astrophysicists today, and is based on empirical data. Also the universe is not infinite, it has a border, but it is expanding at the speed of light (various people argue about the speed of the expansion, some people say its speeding up, others say its slowing down and will eventually come to a stop and start contracting). Some suggest that this is a continuous process, but we simply do not know enough to tell for sure.
This isn't creationist propaganda (personally I belive in an intelligent force behind creation - but I believe this is something that is not in the realm of science yet). I don't think any major religions hold the answer as to our "purpose" (if there is such a thing). And my beliefs are not strong enough for me to reject any theoretically or empirically sound scientific hypotheses.
PS - I agree with you about creationists - If ignorance is bliss, they must be REALLY happy. |

Not , it's scientifically proven fact (not to suggest that this is some sort of absolute standard). |

| interesting thread, im in astronomy and find it interesting, learn a lot of cool stuff I never knew etc, supposvely their making a new hubble right now anyways......i understand how time travel works, and our teacher showed us how light makes energy or whatever, like he had these little paper things in a glass dome, when he shined a flash light on it it started spinning......and he was saying how if we sent something into space with a big giant sail the light would push it, hence making it go light speed, obviously its far fetched but you never know |

hey our teacher showed us that experiment as well!! cept, the light wasn't very strong and the whole experiment just went fubar. |

watch the pictures with an ambient/new age tune in the background (on headphonz), simply mesmerising!
anyway, regarding the topic... i find it hard to believe the universe is boundless. there must be a border somewhere, also in time. still i'm not a fan of the big bang theory neither, i'm a bit sceptic towards scientists who have "calculated" when the creation of the universe took place. i haven't studied astrophysics or anything, but i find it hard to imagine we can still see "leftovers" from the big bang. in my opinion, there are things we will never know, including how the universe was formed, no matter what scientists find out there. why should we know anyway, the future is what we need to focus on!! |

THis Galaxies Tail is more than 280.000 Lightyears long!!!
just imagine that space is expanding...galaxies move away from us...with nearly lightspeed ...well never visit another galaxy!!!! that is something mankind has to cope with...the space is endless...and we cant explore at least 0,000001% percent of it!
in human lifetime we wont even explore more than 10% of our OWN galaxy....and that is still optimistic!!!
space is an unbelievable thing...if you would spend your whole life on studying interesting and unbelievable facts about the universe you wont even know more than 0,1% of the known space today...its so sad...so many informations..and we cant handle them...
I BELIEVE that SOMEWHERE OUT THERE there IS life and there might be even another EARTH!!! caus the universe is BIG and its impossible that we are alone!!!
check THIS SMALL MOVIE!!! |
