Finding a Job (pg. 3)

The corporate world is no different than say working in music. I was working for the man 16 hours a day. Granted the man threw great parties but the start of any career always has the epsilon work ready and waiting.
People get fired in every field for not fitting in. It isn't exclusive to corporate jobs.
You will find every field involves the grunt work. Some fields require more, pay less and are very unreliable so unless you are ok with making the sacrifice, I wouldn't be so down on corporate jobs.
I guess you need to find the best fit. I woukd not advance in the corporate world but I do well in my field where you can be a little nutters.
And try to look at the long term. People often don't realize how certain skills are transferable and a job that fosters these univerally in demand skills are the ones you want. |

Give up on any pretence of getting a job you enjoy in a field you're passionate about that pays a good starting salary. If you don't have a good foothold by the time you graduate, you have absolutely no chance. |
UK education is tough, if you don't make it in high-school you're pretty much stuck in a 3rd-4th level career. It's horrible. |

Work? work!
Look at most people with good jobs, they didn't start at entry-level. Most had it through connections or cause their parents gave them the job.
I suggest you become a boondock saint and rob from the born rich. |

What's a good job in your opinion?
Compared to the people in our factory I think I have a good job, but I did start as a Benjamin at engineering without help of anyone. |

I started as a Sally on the corner.
People that think that good jobs only come through contacts are delusional. Yes, networking and having friends helps...but those that think that this is the only way need to look at their complete lack of qualifications a little more. |

Qualifications only matter if you are going for an eng/doctor position. |
