hey - I used to post here a lot, but been tied up with projects and so forth. I'm maybe a bit late on this thread but when people ask me how I got into doing commercial music (adverts, tv spots, etc) I give some long winded story. Then when people ask me for what gear they should invest in first if they're 'serious' about this. I always says monitors. Seriously, my friends who are wiz's in the studio, have been listening to the same monitors for 25 years. They know those monitors more than they know their wives. True story.
If you can afford amazing monitors now, you'll never need to replace those - wait, let me rephrase, you'll never want to replace those. You can change sounds, styles, genres, whatever, it won't matter because you'll have a firm understanding of what sound is supposed to sound like, regardless of the application.
That said, I got to mix on the MM27's and they are the most precise monitor I've ever worked on. I wish I had the money because those speakers are an investment for life and it will be my next purchase. I hope what I'm saying makes sense - good luck! |

i say go for it. if anything you support the business of high quality equipment which is good. someone needs to take the development cost and when it comes to studio gear you are the perfect guy. may you never get self insight :)
oh and btw if your serious about this how the hell can you even consider using the USB input lol. u need to use the AES, and get a proper AES native decice of some sort, not via USB, hopefully via firewire or thunderbolt. usb has jitter and sux. even asyncron usb sux. usb is not made for audio with its checksums and such, it is not real time, even HDMI is better.
oh nice hypex amps, i have that on my custom made hifis :) nice amps. not worth the price though. |

| one usb each monitor, then select the L/R switch on the monitors, just as with AES. hopefully they have made a driver which sends the signal to both monitors in sync. |
