Sorry for the double post.

Anyway, I feel like the new generation of trance DJ's is trying to do a good job at remaining true to the genre and the culture and scene of trance.

But, we'll see
a.l.d.i.
ugh some one dropped the word trance. yeah thats where i come in. with everything turning into a producers sets. True trance djs sets are dead.

you can't have 3 hrs of uplifting trance (picking uplifting since it is easily recognized as one of the last hanging strings of "real" trance). Three hrs of one subgenre its redundant. you must have all the elements to create the euphoric journey. you'll need the house and you will need the techno in the mix bag. i mean you can have a classic night here and there but other than that you will need to mix it up.

thats what sucks nowadays. "trance" artists are being treated like the 90's rock and 00's pop fame. As soon as some one does a hit song "boom" world tour is scheduled. the agents and market team are pushing tours to milk the momentum. typical business plan that's been there for half a decay. it has the demands. well mostly the electro's side. the 00's had lip synching singing, we have ty pre-recorded djing synching now. unfortunately most of the "trance" producers really blow at djing. Okay , you can say that they dont train wreck. But thats about it. most of the song selections don't compliment each other. i.e: if some one does a 3 hrs of non-producer set of uplifting trance it would be tiresome. Three hours of only rolling basses sounds such as activa , joc , Gueseppe Ottovani , manuel la sax, etc would be too repetitive.

I was one of the blindness-follower myself many times. i was shallow and hoped the next artist was the one who would bring that feeling back. if you dig some old threads back from this forum you will find that i was rooting for tritonal once. rooting for them, voting top100. Saying how they are good. the new AnB the whole nine yards. grabbed the ticket right away when they came here in nYC. only there i realized i was sold an idea, not the real deal. don't get me wrong. it was all my fault. i blidnessly hyped them up in media forums and was so excited to see them.

anyways unless "trance" djs are consistently showcasing mix genres in their sets to build that jurney then trance will not last longer. To me, the new generation of trance djs are sticking strictly to one sub-genre. whether that is progressive ,uplifting , tech , or psy they don't switch around a lot.

Some good points but what's so different when an overhyped RA Top 100 "underground" DJ plays boring all night and never even attempts to mix it up?

Most DJs period aren't very good -- or at least they're not very good at playing an extended "journey set."

Real trance does still exist, it's just very hard to find. I wasn't sure I was a believer before the ADE Luminosity party. Granted, those DJs played short sets but the night was awesome and the music was definitely "real" trance.

bam, spot on, Aldi.

I consider myself a "trance" DJ, and I compose my sets of a few really great peak-time trance tracks surrounded by all sorts of deep progressive and techno to string the journey along. There's nothing more boring than 3 hours of the same exact subgenre of music. There is no progression there.
