Since the search function does not seem to work properly. I thought it would be wise to start a new thread on this.
According to the U.S Navy Body Fat Index, my score is 'dangerously low'. I have about 2% body fat (taking into account computational errors), but I could use more muscle.
The weather is getting a lot better where I live; planning to make the best of it. How about Yourself?

I put on quite a bit of weight when I hit 30. Stupid metabolism. It always used to serve me so well! I could eat/drink what I liked, and no issues :(
I got up to 96kg (211 lbs for the backwards imperial folks here), and not in a good way. Flabby bastard.
Down to 77kg now (169 lbs). Doing ok, I guess? I still need to tone up a lot, but I'm getting there. |

I gained some fat during my latest relationship. Now once that is over, I must get back into shape again. It's just that stable workout routine I haven't been able to establish due to my wacky schedules and lack of motivation :(
My goal is to get at least 10 kg of that out of me for starters and establish a good body-weight exercise routine. |

I work out 6 days a week together with a friend who has been doing this for a long time. We take it week by week. Kinda like chest-week + abdomen work-out in between.
My diet consists of 4-5 meals a day. During mornings I take a protein-bar, which also consists of a large quantity of carbohydrates (to keep up during university-hours). As far as food is concerned, I eat mainly chicken breast in olive oil with boiled vegetables (broccoli & carrots) mostly. After the work-out which takes ~1.5 - 2 hours, I take a protein-shake with water. I used to take it with milk, but the cazeine in milk slows the proteic uptake in the blood. I went up from 64 kg (140 lbs) to 72 kg (158 lbs) within a few months, almost purely muscular. My goal is rougly 78 kgs (171 lbs) at which point I'll get on a diet-program with tons of cardio ~30 km jogging daily (15x2 sessions) so I lose the fat which will end up accumulating.
My only problem is that after losing 20 kgs (44 lbs) in a month back in march, my skin still hasn't retracted properly so it kinda hangs over the abdomen. Guess I have to wait.
OT: I still avoid all types of soft-drinks, potatoes, fried foods, dressing and all kind of junk-food, alcohol, drugs etc. Only water, tea, coffee or freshly-squeezed orange-juice.
If anyone is interested, I can post in december (only got one from last year) a picture of how I went from 84 kgs to 64 then up to 7x in muscles. |

Anyway i bought 100$ worth of organic food from whole foods every week because my parents let me and i'm noticing a lot of changes to my system. I'm happy with the results and I recommend it to anyway who can afford it who are trying to loose weight. |

I think he's referring to the ideology among many coop'ers, foodies etc. that food should have traveled the least possible distance, to save the environment on co2 emissions etc.
Being a chain I do not believe Whole Foods fall under this category, as they nodoubtedly have centralised processing plants.
But yeah, organic grown food is far better for your system.
GMO foods and foods laced with pesticides is death to your system. Literally. Some GMO's are fine, but most use experimental techniques where there is no data on longterm effects, and if it is, longterm is too narrowly defined.
Another big no-no is aspartame. That is toxic and tastes like cancer. I can't even understand how ppl can drink Coke Zero etc.
What it does, is that it tricks the body into thinking loads of sugar is coming, so you pump out copious amounts of insulin, but the sugar never comes, so you basically get insulin poisoning. Not a fatal one, but still enough to make you feel pretty f'n queazy. And if you do this every day, you'll end up with type 2 diabetes pretty quickly.
And then there's heightened risk of brain tumors, according to some studies.. :P
MSG is also bull. It contains, as does Aspartame, unnatural structured acidic amino acids which can acts as neurotransmitters, thus ing with your CNS. Both s also messes with the hormone leptin which the body uses, among other things, to signal hunger to the brain. Another job of leptin is to tell the body to burn fat.
High fructose corn syrup is also pretty bad, but it's far less destructive to the bodys normal function, and if you're bulking up,
it can give you that menacing look of a bull. If you just sit on your ass, though, you'll end up looking like a fat cow. It's kinda like steroids in that way. Which is basically what it is, except you know, it's not four cycloalkane rings :P
Given the options, plain old sugar actually ain't that bad.
I don't think I would be able to keep up my daily calorie intake.
I'm not seeing results quickly enough, so I'm gonna up it by like 1500-2000 lol. And I hate eating lol :P
Edit: But if you absolutely don't want sugar in your diet, Stevia's the way to go. Tastes a little bit licoricy to some tho. |

I gained 10 kilos this year. No muscle, all fat.
I used to be worried about my self image but, after developing a Morton's Neuroma in my left foot, and having excruciating headaches while I exercised, I decided to get some medical treatment and let myself go a bit. Best decision ever. I'm just started hitting the gym again, I just hope I don't lose this carelessness... life is so much better this way. |
