...not that I've used it in over 10 years but still.

Scroll down to the bottom. Seems like AOL did their usual thing of buying a decent product then putting it in a coffin.

imo the best audio player in the market today (combined with the Asio plugin).

The only player which allows you to use like 10 playlists at once and use History+stats, it's also pretty easy to convert to other formats and send send selected tracks to a usb device with it.

I'm never going to replace Winamp.

Best damn player...ever.
Been a user of WinAmp since Beta in 96. Used it for 95% of all scorp radio's broadcast. Shoutcast was a dream to use.
Sucks:confused:

Still regard it as the best little audio player. Sad to see it go.
Always stuck with version 2.81, never got into 3 or 5 with all the feature creep and bloat.
Haven't used it since switching to Mac a couple of years ago.

Bit of a bummer. Still my loved audio player though I'm probably using VLC more due to the codecs. But still love using the milkdrop plug-in for visualisations, so I'll likely use it for as long as I can.

Uh, what? I thought winamp would always be around. I use it daily to listen to podcasts. I like that you can hit the arrow keys once to rewind or fast-forward 5 seconds, or the length of your choosing. I use that feature daily.

Guess I'll keep using winamp till it doesn't work anymore. What other choices are there? Saw VLC mentioned here.

VLC is by far the worst audio player i used in my life, it's good for video but it distorts sound.

Foobar2000 for those looking for minimalistic players.
Mediamonkey for everyone else, has a host of excellent options for dealing with large music collections and the player is basically the same as winamp 2.x and is compatible with winamp plugins. Also comes with milkdrop as standard.
Clementine works too but is better for different platforms.

I've said this in MD as well but in i see all these topics of people raving winamp simply for third party plug-ins that are by no means exclusive. It hasn't been a relevant piece of software for like a decade now and the only reason i see for why you would still be using it is simple habit.

Thats sad to hear. I havent used winamp in atleast 10yrs either. Too much BS w/the ads and stuff. Been using Foobar for a long time. No nonsense, but not many features to control the player. Gonna have to try media monkey.
