Can I suggest (to make all the genres equally fair) that voters take certain criteria into account when listening to the mixes, something along the lines of

track selection
progression of the set (not anthem after anthem)
mixing skills
originality

just a thought ;)
Bedrock
you'd expect that jace

Jace,

Firstly my mixsr has 3 outputs in the back

Master
Booth
Rec

Im sure of that!

And also, you say not anthem after anthem. I dont have alot of money so I can't just buy any records that sound ok. I only buy the tunes I love which are generally anthems and popular songs, trance songs. Also I only play to a small uneducated crowd (school disco etc) and why would I buy stuff to make it flow, all they wanna hear is tunes. I don't have alot of records that arnet "anthems". And I also dont have alot of new stuff. Ive only got about 32 so its a bit hard. Hard to just buy any records on $20 a week!

I was gonna put the Breeder mix of Planet Perfecto early on in my set, vocals can really start a mix well...

Trancey Ash, don't be too worried about what people think of your mix. Personal satisfaction should be your main priority, other people's should come next. One thing about being successful with dj-ing that I've found, is that early on, we need to make do with what we have and may the best come from it. We can't expect to have every single record, however, I would much rather prefer a 1 hour mix of wicked tunes, mixed well together in a way that the energy is building throughout the set, rather than having a mix with little tunes in between good tunes that just seem to fill gaps.

Besides, its a one hour mix (roughly) you'd want to play your best tunes in the limited space of time, rather than drag them out over 90min to 2 hours...

Don't succumb to the will of the general consensus, play what your comfortable with playing, and then you're a true artist, not a cop out like many of the commercial jocks we loathe on these boards...

Bedrock, ing awesome post, i couldnt have put it better my self.

Bedrock
thanks mate

I try :)
Trancey Ash
Thanks Bedrock!

Its so true what you saying. I always worry too much about what other people think! My fatal flaw. Could make a good tragedy.

BTW play the breeder remix! Its an awsome track to start with! Im not sure whether il play not over yet . . yet. Depends. I havent started to work out a set yet. Ill prob start with Ubik (the breakz) or Gliterball depending on whether I can find something that is slow like it. Dont wanna pitch it up too much, sounds a bit ty

Yeh in an hour id rathr hear tunes as well. Plus with tunes cuing the records at the right place can sound alot better too when you get it right!

haha im excited about this now! WOAH!

Cheers
