Any one who want to do the mix on some decent equipment, i've got SL1200s and a ps626, as well as 6 channels worth of nice sound card and a stable as linux system to record with. Anyone can use them if they can teach me how to mix breaks, d&b and get the techno mixing skills a bit better. Actually and one who wants to help out a fellow TA in just becoming a better DJ all round i'm keen as for help. I would love to trade any good tricks i know.

Some tips on the hardware side of things.
Plug your equipment into the line in or phono in of your sound card. While you're recording go into your sound cards mixer and turn off all inputs except for the input you're using. (very important as many sound cards have awful recording quality while other inputs are on)
If like me you have a decent quality soundcard like the live or audigy series from Creative, There's a set of 3rd party drivers from a group called the KX project that are designed for music creation and recording and have better mixers and full control over the DSP's and sound quality then the Creative drivers. Just install them and it'll install the "new" device as a KX Live etc and it also installs a full ASIO driver so if any of you use Cubase VST then it'll give you great latencies as well ;)
get them Here
To master your recording the best software to use would be something semi-pro like Cool Edit pro. Set the sample rate at 44,100 and at 16 bits. Use a good Mp3 encoder like LAME
If anyone needs cool edit or anything else just pm me and i'm sure i can send you in the right direction :p |
