| I picked a label I like. Then I go through their releases. Makes things easy and provides some kind of identity I think. |

I don't understand what can be frustrating about Beatport... even if it fails to show a single subgenre of my favourite genre (drum'n'bass). I've bought so much music there the website probably reckons I'm a DJ by now :p |
Actually you can search specifically by sub-genre, a feature I had presumed lost in the redesign. Still not ideal, but it is there: http://www.beatport.com/genre/drum-and-bass/1/tracks |

The Lord that is Discogs will supply all that you need. Put your faith and trust in Lord Discogs.
...though it was better when they still had the JunoDownload MP3 clips. Shame they did away with them. |

Frankly speaking i just stalk people who have good taste of music on Forums, Youtube, Soundcloud, Facebook. 80% of the time you will find what you want. Thats how i get to really rare gems that i miss back then
What they tag, share, upload, comment, post and of course their own mixes |

| Discog's has proved invaluable to me as a trance fanatic over the years ! and i remember seeing juno downloads somewhere a while back but never actually got round to trying it out. shall definitely check that ahd vevo out, thanks guys :) yes i agree aswell armada do seem to be over taking the EDM scene with compilations seemingly for the sake of it :/ i do listen to radio shows and podcasts such as afterhours.fm, pure.fm and something to trance :) good to see people really do support the artists they like these days and develop their own taste these days rather than follow trends like most ! Thanks again all of you ! :) |

Oh yes, great job mentioning Discogs guys...dunno how I forgot that one. Find an artist you like, and then check Discogs.
For me, one of the first producers I ever got into was Ayla/Tandu. I checked out his discogs...discovered Taucher & Torsten Stenzel from that...the next guy I was really into was Ferry Corsten, who led me to the likes of Rank 1, Vincent De Moor, etc...just keep following the links between artists. |

have you tried slsk |
slsk is a tool as much as it is a pirating haven. for efficiency, and plus for for all the awesome stuff which just isn't on beaport etc.
the way i find music is, is i search for an artist i like. discover some great tracks from that artist. then move on and try out the remixes (from other artists) then look into the remixers own tracks (and his own remixes) of the tracks that you enjoyed... if that makes sense :eyes:
you can easily spiral out of control using this method. it's endless. |

The new sorting features in Discog's Explore section is great in filtering for what you want, especially since they expanded the Styles (sub-genres) so you can tag releases with nearly any ol' damn thing now (Rebetiko? Gagaku?? Korean Court Music!???).
Of course, it's not a perfect sorting system, since some things are mistagged or just plain missing (no eurobeat, wha'?), but it's far more efficient than any other music catalog I've come across. |

Yep, another great thing to use if you're just browsing for stuff on discogs is the advanced search feature...you can just browse genres by year if you want to. I've mainly used it for cataloging so far, might purchase a few vinyls of hard to find stuff eventually though. |

Blimey, so many subgenres! I had no idea this existed, thanks!
Edit: Huh? No Neurounk!? I wonder if that's labelled as techstep :/ |

I use Beatport for new music, best site by far for me. I check new releases once a week. The player is really easy to use and can be navigated using a keyboard.
I only buy about 3-5 a week though and tend to buy from elsewhere as it's often cheaper.
For old Trance I use Discogs and Youtube in combination. |
