Political Forum

I have noticed that the Chill Out room has a lot of posts latelly about politics. maybe it would be a good idea to have a forum, just for this.

On the other hand, chill out room is a good place to have it, since lots of people will read it.

I'm not sure, what do you guys think?

I for one, have found this to be one of the BEST places to discuss politics on the web for two reasons, one that people are generally intelligent and peaceful (because they like trance, and we all know how smart that is!) and also because there are people from all over the world here.

yea that would be a great idea :)

I <3 politics :) :P :D

I would be there quite often :)

I've been thinking along the same lines. I think that it would be a good idea, and especially if the two other big subjects philosphy and religion could be discussed there as well.

I think it is a good idea since it will free these discussions from the stupid one-liners from people who really doesn't care about the subject, and, since there probably won't be as many new threads there as in the chill-out forum, we could do with e.g. one Saddam-thread as it wouldn't be pushed off the page, forcing somebody with another angle to start a new one.

i agree with trancaholic....
wouldn't be a bad idea to have it. there are too many posts of no value on the few prized political threads we have making them rather unbearable at times.

I like JohnSmith's idea, but i disagree with his saying that the people here are 'generally intelligent'..... may be the case, but considering the average age of the TA user is 16, and all they know about politics and whats going on in the world is from what they hear from their teacher or parents. Add to that nubile immaturity, and you have some of the quality of debates on here.

There are several of us who tend to be more open or have a better understand of whats going on, and we'd appreciate something along those lines. I don't care for those one-liners from TA's who pop in just to cause trouble... these are problems that i can almost guarantee would be eliminated if these threads were posted in a different forum.

As a student of Foreign Affair, could I be against it?

Yeah, let's have a polictical forum, the chill out room is already fool of these threads :)

Hey, ABT, all right, some of the users are "16, and all they know about politics and whats going on in the world is from what they hear from their teacher or parents", but some of us are really into it, and it's nice for us to share these points of view. There's no solution for this, is there? :conf:

so maaz, are you agreeing with me or disagreeing?

side note: where in brazil are you from? My wife is from around those parts.

*edit: scratch that, didn't notice "Brasilia" under the Location section under your avatar.*

I think that 16 year olds would be dettered from visiting the political forum.. just because of the title of the room... unless they had something honest and thoughful to say....

unlike chillout where anyone and everyone just goes looks, replies

when it is in its own forum... someone would actually want to go talk about the subject
//edit heh woops, i agree with Robbie :)

:)

<3 politics! :D

Good idea, but it would have to be _heavily_ moderated if you wanted to keep it civilised. A Political Forum has the ability to start many many flame wars!

Just let all the mods from all the forums moderate it then... so many flame wars, so little time :D

I agree, but I think that though it's not good to have that kiddie-problem, there's no way to avoid it. The others will need to show enough maturity to deal with it. And, maybe, there's a genious kid or something, we never know :D

PS: Hey, where in Brazil is your wife from?

Santos.
