Pitch-bending a single note..

Not sure if there is a way to do this... looking for a way to pitch-bend a single note in a midi phrase/region/clip, when there are multiple notes triggering at the same time. Kind of like the effect of a guitar player bending one of the strings while playing a chord
either in ableton or logic, as long as it's possible to export the midi to be used as a clip in ableton
I'm guessing it would involve some workaround with multiple midi channels but I'd like to just keep it coming from one synth if that's possible.. |

| It's probably going to be difficult. Which synth and controller are you using? Does the controller happen to feature polyphonic aftertouch? If so, you could try routing aftertouch (aka pressure) to pitch in the synth's mod section and simply press down harder on the note you want to bend - see if that works. |

Serato is PT-only, won't work in Logic or Ableton. But, Melodyne could conceivably do something similar, but it would require pitch-bending a note from the bounced audio and I'm guessing that the results probably wouldn't be as good as pitching the note up in MIDI, even if it requires using multiple instances of the synth. |

| Just draw a pitch bend in the midi clip or you want to do in real time? |

That would affect all notes in the chord, though. |

| Clone the instrument and put the note you want to bend in the cloned instrument and just pitch it there. I'm not sure how to do it with a single synth. |

| It would be super cool if DAWs had like.. An equivalent to Smart Objects in Photoshop. Where double clicking a MIDI note takes you into another window where you can affect that MIDI note and only that MIDI note in all of its instances within a loop. |

It's not quite the same, but Cubase 7's note expression has similar abilities. It also lets you do just what meriter wants to do (i.e., pitch bend a single note within a chord in a MIDI clip), which is one of the limitations of MIDI control implementation. |

FL studio does this:

The problem is it doesn't let you automate the knobs for some reason.. |

| if you use a synth that can do per note or per voice pitch modulation you could set up a MIDI CC to trigger that. |
