Would like to experience this with someone else. But I'm all for some solo dolo action, too.

Did you already get tix? You normally have to get them really early in the year.
OrangestO
Nah, I have to wait for the OMG Sale of tickets on Wednesday, August 5.

http://tickets.burningman.org/

Says there are 1000 tickets being sold. I'm assuming since a lot have already been sold that these won't be too hard to snatch up as long as I'm online at the right time.

Nobody goes to burning man for the music. that's not what the "festival" is about!

Your assumption is VERY wrong!!! there are way more than 1000 people looking for tickets at this point. the demand is much higher than the capacity! good luck

Good to know, then. I will try my best!

lol You're going to have a fun time finding tix. You'll have to pull a UMF thing and F5, F5, F5 :p

BM tickets are super difficult to get. Good luck. Better be on and refreshing your screen right as they are released. I've been trying to get them for 2 years.

Music heads only? LMAO. BM is full of celebs and the rich trying to be cool for a week and living in the desert like a hippie.

Yes there is an orgy tent Juan.

I'm dying to check it out sadly this isn't the year.
OrangestO
Didn't realize how hard they were to get.

I will still try, though. I seem to have pretty damn good luck with the F5 button, lol.

As far as BM being only for music heads, yea right.

I posted an interesting interview of Ricardo Villalobos in the other thread. Here's a quote from him summing it up.
quote:
“I can’t condemn EDM or cheesy pop music if the people democratically decided that’s what they want,” he declares. “It belongs to them. When music connects people, whatever the music, it has a really strong healing influence on society because it connects their interests. People who have the same interests do not go to war and kill each other. It’s hard to kill someone when you share similar values.” That said, his mood turns when discussing why he doesn’t play in America, and particularly his feelings towards Burning Man. “I would go, but there are millions of parties between here and Burning Man,” Villalobos stresses. “I’m not going because I have my Burning Man every weekend, and I’m not going there to share with people that have millions of pounds in their account and invent a system to share things for 10 days, but in normal life they don’t care about anyone.”

Can't say that I disagree with his sentiments.

If BM is mostly rich s posing for a 10-day event trying to feel like they're enlightened because of it, then count me out.

Has anyone here gone? Any firsthand accounts of the experience you'd care to share?

I have friends who have gone for the past 10 years. They are definitely no where close to being rich and they are involved with the burning man community and projects and it's the one trip they take every year and they don't know any of the djs there because that's not the purpose of it for them... surely it has changed over time though and will continue to do so.

Pachanga Boys are in town tonight @ Trade. They're regulars at BM. The 2013 BM of their party went down real well. That's the vid I posted above.

I love the Pachanga Boys. Definitely BM material.

I think I would lose my if I heard this in the middle of the desert in that environment.

So if its not strictly about the music or art then what is it about? Sounds like a weird time to me. Not interested and never have been. A bunch of hippies, hipsters, and wannabes seeking "enlightenment" in the desert. Im good!
