I don't think BM is being portrayed correctly in this thread. I highly recommend watching the countless vids on youtube. I don't see why you'd hate going to BM vs going to a club on SB. Cause there's no stuck up, rich hipsters in Miami right? If anything the people at BM are what you would like. It's not a David Guetta party @ Story ;)

Yea, the videos are what got me interested. A lot of cool art and music. The people in a lot of the videos seem ok, too.

What I absolutely can't stand is the people who take part in certain things as a way to show and 'prove' that they're enlightened to other people (a lot of people take part in yoga for this exact reason) when they don't have a clue about what the they're talking about. Tampa is littered with this sort of crowd. Repulsive. And that's why I made the comments about rich folks attending something like this as a way to show and prove they're down for the cause, too.

right off. How's that for enlightenment. :whip:

Yea, don't get me wrong, you have that crowd that is just there cause it's cool or some other odd reason. Finding religion...whatever, but it's such a huge festival with so many things going on, you'll find people that you really connect with and will have a blast.

I'm probably in the minority of people on this forum but I've never had a problem with going to hi-end clubs. I don't normally enjoy the music at such places and I'm not saying it's my favorite thing to do but I get along just fine with the people at clubs like Story. Sure, there's plenty of douchebags but it's easy to not acknowledge them.

At least at a place like that, everyone's motives are pretty much out-in-the-open. I'm not much of a hippie or have hippie tendencies so Burning Man really doesn't do anything for me. Now sure, if I had an overly generous friend who gave me a ticket to go to BM, I'd go and I'm sure I'd have a good time. But from what I can see, it's not something I would seek out. And the desert ing sucks.

John, you really find people who take part in yoga to be "repulsive" just because they don't understand the entire philosophy and history of yoga? As Cris Carter would say..C'mon man! Yoga is one of the best things you can do in your free time, who cares if someone doesn't fully understand the philosophies of it.

You're missing my point.

There's the people who go to yoga and there's the people who do yoga.

See the difference?

No, I understand your point...Harry the guy from work takes up yoga and starts chatting at work about how great it is. He might come off as uninformed about the subject so you think he's an .

He might just be a guy that's excited about yoga, at least for the time being. Good for him. Yoga is a great thing for body and mind, obviously.

Nope, still not my point.

How about Sally feels like if she told her friends she does yoga they'll think she's enlightened and oh so in-tuned with herself. Sally might even go to a class or two for the of it, but internally she doesn't give a rat's ass about yoga or any of its teachings. All she cares about is how she's perceived by her friends.

Remember that book I gave you? It'd be like you telling me you read it and gained a lot from the experience when you all you really did was briefly skim it so you don't feel guilty and eventually used it as doorstop.

But who cares what other people do especially when they're not interfering with your life? There's no reason to be so negative about things that are actually good, like yoga.

I am of the opinion that social media, for the most part, is a bad thing for society. I think it negatively impacts social norms and customs, as well as create more narcissism. Yoga does not negatively impact the social lives of people. It's something that people do to enhance their bodies and minds. Even if people do it for the "wrong" reasons, so ing what.

KiNeTiC ENeRgY
When Harry met Sally. Sorry had to :p
OrangestO
You're STILL missing my point. Jesus.

Where did I say anything negative about yoga?

I'm talking about people and their motivations. Not yoga.

I just used that as an example to illustrate my point, which obviously is working with you.
