I was going to say the same thing Dave did but he beat me to it. Good to see you back. I had a feeling that was why you left but that's why TA is like the interwebs version of Hotel California; You can log out any time you like but never never truly leave ;)
I think some of what ou're feeling comes with moving on, muscially speaking. I was "raised" on epic house/trance from 1995 onwards, and although I kept my decks and plugging away when trance turned to utter dog in the very early 2000's, I also went through a phase of disillusion with house & trance. I still love that original stuff but it took a while to hear other stuff that I grew to love.
I generally stay away from modern trance as it's a pale and hollow rip off of my preferred period, so I like more the really driving and chunky prog and tech house, a la Carl Cox.
Blueman never got much love around here and I have to admit not from me. I've worked with a lot of film score composers so I always found his stuff very trite and cliched - like the stuff their assistants put out as first attempts at a demo reel but with a 138bpm beat. That's not to say the guy didn't have talent, he was actually better than most trance producers at composition but his toys-out-of-the-pram meltdown quitting Trance music didn't really help his rep.
The point I'm trying to make is that things move on. I tried to listen to ASOT 654 the other day as I hadn't heard one in years, and although I didn't hold up much hope for it, there are usually a couple of decent tracks in the 2 hours. This time, not a sausage. Lowest common denominator stadium trance with uninventive cliched sounds (well, white noise actually) again and again and again.
I literally didn't hear one track that was worth replaying.
So you move on. Find things that inspire you. It happened once, it will happen again. I don't make 95-99 trance, but I will admit that some of the elements seem to always creep in somewhere. |

I'm not the nerd who's into that type of . I focus on my tracks, not on whats going to be on my next science exam. I'm still right btw and your calling me an idiot still. Try Again?
