UAD isn't worth the money anymore. Lot's of the plugins are outclassed by native gear. The main reason they got so much praise is because a lot of the plugins use 4x oversampling by default and computers weren't fast enough to sustain that kind of load, but that's nothing special now.
I'd take gear from indie devs like Cytomic, U-he, Valhalla, DMG and so on over UAD any day. They're the ones pushing boundaries, not UAD, Waves, et al. |

hmmm wouldnt say UAD plugs are outclassed by many at all - on par or better if anything
its up to you - the plugins arent cheap (in particular the newly released ones) but there are great promotions all the time
e.g. the new Pultec Collection was on sale for $99 there recently, which is just insane for an EQ that sounds that good
versus Native - i dont think its the silver bullet you are looking for
if it were me id have to think long and hard about buying a UAD card today, for a Solo im not sure how much CPU that will save you
ive a Quad and a Solo so it saves me quite bit of CPU
Check the plugin instance count here http://www.uaudio.com/support/uad/c...ance-chart.html |

I sold my UAD Quad and all the plugins when I realized how good native VST plugins where getting. Glad I did, probably wouldn't have gotten as much as I did for it had I sold it now.
But I do miss a few of the plugins. The Harrison EQ is really nice. |

High end hardware *might* take your to new levelzzzzzzzz, not UAD. Nothing magic there that you cannot achieve using native. No ing unicorns. |

Some plugins id really miss if i sold my cards - just getting into the Neve 33609 Compressor recently, its beautiful
But yeah, native is really good at the moment. For example The Glue is probably better than the UAD 4K even though they are modelling the same compressor, the Glue has more options...
Id also really miss FATSO for clipping, Cooper Time Cube, EMT140 & 250 |

I have 2 quads. Don't use them. Nebula for anything I'm trying to model or native. |

It seems so bizarre to me these days that the UAD model is somehow still surviving. Don't get me wrong, I'm a true believer in using what works and what you know, but the giant dongle system just seems so antiquated and worthless when as EchoSys said, the technical advantages are null and void now.
UAD should just make all their plugs native. I know people who dropped them years ago, that would re-up in a heatbeat if they went that way. |
