Ania had that! Not sure how I remember, but it was her.
Silky Johnson
Probably because she was the target of many of your sick burns.

As long as forums still exist, i won't leave them for sure.
Social Networks killed the forums we can say, but i'm still here to resist.

Facebook is alright, but the most amusing threads and subjects I've ever read have all come about via forums. At least on here, you're not limited to reading only what your friends type and post. With TA you can watch men and women from all over the globe converge and berate each other without worrying about one defriending the other, ultimately ending what potentially epic drama could have been delivered.

That's why it's fun to pick fights with friends of friends on facebook. There's a never ending supply of easily accessible dumbasses.

Lol, I totally picked a fight with this chick on my friend's FB not too long ago. Soo funny omg.

Anyone on here also use Reddit?
LAdazeNYnights
No.

I think if TA actually got that facelift that never happened, traffic would increase massively.

Let's be honest, the site was bad even back in 2003. I remember barely being able to read a thread without getting text burn in my eyes. By todays standards, people probably think their inbox will be flooded by dick pills and Nigerians if they sign up.

Just upgrade to a new version of vBulletin and get some TemplateMonster happening. Winner winner chicken dinner.

It is not that easy.

If it ever happens there would be a version that looks 99% as it does now alongside another version that is revamped... those that left did not leave because of a dark background. The latest version of vB I would even consider going to is the 3.x series (3.7?) since 4 and beyond are garbage. The only benefit that comes from the newer versions are mobile integration... that is all. You're welcome to dump some links here to forums that are kicking ass with the newer versions of vbulletin/another version. Nothing is immediately obvious but there are also dozens of customizations on TA that aren't aren't native to this version of vB... I either snagged them from somewhere else and integrated them or wrote it on my own (event forums). The stuff I did on my own isn't hard to integrate into another forum software...it just has to be worthwhile. Prior to Reddit .com being such a highly trafficked site it was licking at the feet of Digg.com -- until Digg put forth a complete sitewide revamp that caused a ton of their members to jump ship. (Good read here - link).

My partner in crime is Digitally Imported forums still looking as they did many moons ago - link - lol.

As well, you reference 2003 -- back then I was dealing with a lot of legal threats (re: mp3) and defamation suits/takedown requests for what people were saying on the forums. I didn't know what to do. Part of what saved me was TA looking like it did... if I had it all pretty it would be assumed I was making a ton of money. One part of the crew of a very popular DJ (top 5) pushed me up against the wall at a party in 2006 and gave me for 'letting people say what they do about DJ xyz'. I told him to off and that not everyone needs to worship/kiss the ass of the superstar. I was also offered a bunch of cash by another camp who wanted TA to push their own agenda... but that mainly meant deleting all the negative posts/comments about their artist.

This lovely email was from a famous trance producer who around 2003/2004 did not know how to handle the rising popularity of mp3:

quote:
As I see you're not another 16 year old boy dropping mp3's on a server from
his bedroom.

You're right when you say I'm upset with that! Honestly, I'm even pissed now.

Lemme explain you some things:

European cd sales decreased by 70% in the last year because of mp3s and
piracy. Big stars like the Spice Girls, Mariah Carey, got jilted from their
record companies coz the balance between promotion and sales wasn't good
enough anymore. Thousands of people in the music business lost their jobs.
That's what we call a viscious circle here.

Unlike you, most European people are miseducated and don't buy the records
they download. They just try to find them on servers like yours.

Further, they now cut my new unreleased work from dj sets and put them on
Audiogalaxy! Imagine my whole album was available on that server and it's even not released yet!

So yes I agreee with you, it's a fantastic way to promote the records, but
rules have to be set to maintain the artist's protection. And as long as
politics don't make their job, the only way we can use is to be a little
threatening with that kind of sites. I'm sorry for being impolite btw.

If everyone was like you and bought the record afterwards, then no problem,
we'd live in a perfect world! But it ain't so!

Understand and accept my opinion about that.

For instance, I have to inform you that IFPI is now aware of your site!
I'm not happy with that, but you have to understand that if I let everyone
put my tracks on servers I'll be unemployed in 2 years. Don't think we earn
enough money from the rest of the sales coz it's untrue.

Greetings

What has kept me busy lately as well is this DMCA bull - https://www.google.com/transparency...ddict.com/?p=10 - where 90% of the URLs that were put requested to remove from Google's search listings are in fact not violating any copyright but Google takes them down anyways and it's up to me to file a counter-request for EACH ONE and then wait a month or two before they eventually put it back. This only started happening about a year ago...
