Liked the mix with the two Adam Johnson tracks, surprised you haven't played Traber yet.
That also reminds me that I need to check out more stuff from Merck. |

Glad you guys are working your way through them, there's plenty of variety in here. This week's episode is a little bit Jose Padilla. I was listening to his Essential Mix and thought I'd do a classic beach sunset mix before summer buggers off for good:
Fennesz - Himitsu [Ash International]
Mirror System - Mirror Beach (Pitch Black Remix) [Dubmission]
King Unique - Brakes Pads [Bedrock]
Dominik Eulberg - Taeuschungs-Blume [Traum]
Openzone Bar - Where No One Can Hear You [Lemongrassmusic]
Aural Imbalance & S Bluyer - After The Rain [Movementinsound]
S Bluyer - 8.41 AM [Treestory]
Subforms - Stardust [Deeplimit]
Alveol - Son Dub [Lovezone]
Asten - Dubby Tides [Lovezone]
Xcoast - I Feel Free (Donato Dozzy & Modern Heads Remix) [Music Fit Kriterium]
Henik Jonsson & Joel Alter - Svalor [Kontor]
Robert Babicz - Sydney Beach [Systematic] |

Oh God, I'm falling so far behind!
Listened to the Ennio Morricone one a couple of times. Greatly enjoyed it. Listened to it while I played Age of Empires III, which involves conquering the Great West, which seemed appropriate. |

That one is probably my favourite of all of them so far, because I'm a wanker who likes to get conceptual.
Word to the wise: there's gonna be a prog breaks special in the near future... |

I've mostly been keeping up with these, I like my podcasts and this fits neatly into my listening habits. I've played some of them many times now, others I've mostly skipped. I'll be catching up with the comments tonight as I give them a re-listen.
Starting with 09-06: It's definitely up there, the best one I've heard in this series barring the second one. Just a very strong musical showing. Not as convincing in terms of structure as some of the others perhaps, as there wasn't really an apparent thread I could follow. But a good old meander works fine with this sort of music.
More to come. |

| Cheers. Funnily enough that episode got reshared on Soundcloud yesterday when DeepWarmth came across it, presumably from searching for his name. |

24-06: Upon the re-listen I'm actually pretty sure now that this is the first time I've gotten through this all the way, as I didn't remember the ending stretch of this mix. I presume the summery days and mindset did't play ball with this sort of music for me.
As it is now, it was enjoyable enough. But yeah, what can you really say about dubtechno right? Good music, and I liked how it picked up a bit at the end.
07-07: The ending of this mix cracked me up a bit. You were just doing your sign off and discussing some possible soundcloud calamities, but there's that very slight lethargy in your voice which formed an amusing contrast to the glorious daftness of that title track the mix ended on. It's certainly an unusual thing to base your mix around, perhaps you snuck in a bit too much electronic futurism at just before the 30 minute mark and I'm not sure if I approve of that. Otherwise it just kind of worked out. It needed to be rich, instrumental and panoramic and for the most part it was.
Maybe it could have echoed the cynical comedic aspect of the film a bit more, If I remember the film correctly that is. That's a tough thing to capture in music though is it. A very good one this is. Loved it.
21-07: That's a tough genre to work with for a mix of this format. Did you not find this difficult?
I'm as of yet unsure what to make of the overall structure, but didn't have any real difficulty with working my way through it. You can take what you want from that. In any case, there were chunky beats aplenty and lots of geeky fun to be had. I'm okay with it, although I like to consider this a supportive type of music, it can work in lot's of contexts but to make it stand on its own feet means you've got some large boots to fill.
18-08: Good, good. Sublime even. Not even sure what to say, I liked all the music and I can hardly imagine the mixing being more smooth then it is now. I think you nailed this one, It's better then the summer mix you did recently and one of the finest mixes I've heard this summer.
So there you go, It's good to see you're able to keep the ideas flowing. I imagine it can become a bit of a drain after a while.
The standard is very high so far for a podcast series. Good effort I say, makes me a happy man. |

Ha, both of these things can be attributed to the lack of time I had to work on the episode. The vocals are usually recorded after the mix is put together so I can adopt a suitable tone, but due to time constrictions I had to record the outro vocals with no idea how the mix was actually going to end, hence the incongruity between tone and music. The same goes for the spacey Andrew Lahiff track at 30 minutes - I just didn't have time to go find a more suitable piece of music and that was the best thing in the right key to plug that gap in the tracklist.

Not too difficult. Again, time restraints meant there was a big element of chucking the best thing I had available to fill in the gaps. There is a lot of pressure in turning out a mix every 14 days flat, and I just don’t have time to engage in my usual perfectionism, which results in more spontaneous decisions which generally sound perfectly acceptable when I listen back. The idea was simply to build it up to an emotional peak, take it down and repeat.

As indicated above, it can be quite nerve-wracking to keep the ideas flowing, and more than one of these mixes made me jump out of bed at 2am and grab the laptop because I’d finally thought of something. So it does genuinely mean a lot that you are following them and enjoying them so much. Thanks a lot. |

| Yeah no problem dude. Soundcloud podcasts account for the majority of my listening these days, it's just so convenient. Good shows on ambient and electronica are hard to find though so this came at a good time and satisfies most of my needs in that department. |
