Platipus Trance vs Eye Q --- which do you prefer more?

I personally love Eye Q. I find myself getting lost more in the Eye Q stuff rather than Platipus, but Platipus is good too... especially Art of Trance, Union Jack, etc... but I have always loved the stuff that was in Eye Q records.

which one do you guys prefer?

Two different eras, when Platipus' popularity took off, that pure Trance was dying off towards the mid 90's becoming more 'accessible'...no more drawn out sections with very subtle progressions.

Question boils down to whether you like Classic Trance or Progressive Trance.

Isn't this like asking whether you prefer German or UK trance?

I guess all your other suggestions in terms of labeling what words I should've used to describe the questions are also euphemisms in this case. hahaha

but c'mon! I get the point now! (actually had no idea about Classic vs Progressive though)

aside from terminology correction of my behalf, please share your preferences :)

Eye Q for certain...Vernon - Wonderland, Odyssey of Noise - Firedance, Cygnus X - Superstring, Energy 52 - Cafe Del Mar, Brainchild - Symettry C...the few years this label was active, they spawned quite a few tracks that are generally accepted as true classics.
Platipus also has 2 tracks I really enjoy to their catalogue (Albion - Air & Art of Trance - Madagascar) but I've typically found their releases to be a bit ho-hum

This, although I never really cared much about labels.

I'm not actually much of a fan of that trademark Platipus acid sound made by their core producers: AOT, POB, Union Jack, Terra Firma etc. Since the majority of their releases in the early years came from different combinations of the same three producers it all got very samey and I think it's dated very badly. As such I can't say I'm a fan of their rebooted sound either, which has gone straight back to 1995 and carried on like they hadn't already rinsed the idea to death 20 years ago. Come to think of it, most of their best tracks were re-licensed from smaller labels and made famous: Humate - 3, Narcotik - Blue, AMbassador - The Fade etc. etc.

Eye-Q did release some forgettable e, as all labels do, but their roster of in-house classics is pretty undisputable.

To answer you question, probably Eye Q, because it's pure, unadulterated Trance. Lots of forgettable tracks on Eye Q but man do they ever have the magical gems that remind you what Trance really is and was. Plus it just laid the groundwork for the future, they continue to inspire people today, just because how simple they are.

Classic Trance was also short lived though, dying out around '94-95...it got old really fast. Progressive Trance is just a broader genre and more about fusion, which I like from Art Of Trance and the crew, joining chunky thick Acid Trance, sounds of nature, and tribal/ethnic sounds. I used to classify the label as 'Tribal Trance'.

platipus, hands down.
