This track kicked off the night for me ^. He played way too hard in the first half of his set but that last 45 minutes was absolute destruction.

He needed atleast 5 hours to showcase his diversity on those decks.

Yep. One of my favourite tunes from last year and it was good to hear it live.

The Good
-Papa Sven: he delivered in a big way. I haven't danced this hard in a long time. Very diverse in his sound and never felt bored at any point during his set till I left around 10:15. Definitely one of my top 5 sets ever.

-Friends: reunion party. Some people I haven't seen in years.

-The organization, except bathroom and food trucks: getting in was pretty fast and the setup was good for most part. The staff were pretty good at identifying potential problems and solving the problems.

The Bad
-Bathroom: not only the main bathroom the worst designed ever, the lineups did get ridiculous. Partly solved by staff pushing people along, incl ensuring the super secret urinals did get used.

- VIP area: what's the point? And the VIP portapotties line seemed longer and waiting times.

-The ground: thank goodness for the weather. Even a little bit of rain could have turned everything into a mud bath.

The Ugly
-The sound: not enough speakers during peak times during Mano Le Tough and early part of Sven's set which caused painful distortion and poor sound quality. It got better at night because sound travels further at night, but deffo took a lot away from the party.

-Mano Le Tough: I dunno what was going on with his set, except it sucked really bad

-The food trucks: exercise in futility. Not enough of them, and the wait times were ridiculous.

Overall I had a lot of fun, and hope that Sven gets booked in Toronto helluva a lot more. What was the final attendance count?

They came on the mic around 8:30-9 and announced the sound had been 'fixed.' It was terrible for the whole day up until that point. It had nothing to do with volume, as it sounded bad when it was low for Avery/Le Tough and worse when it was blasting for Vath. It must have not been tuned right becuase after the adjustments it souded incredible. Was hard to believe those small stacks put out that much volume over such a distance (I was standing in the back towards the end of the night.)

Really ty though that we had to waste pretty much most of the day with terrible audio, esp given the lessons learned from the first party.
Twist-Ty
Bathroom nightmare. Sound nightmare. If
It wasn't for the perfect weather this party would have sucked. Definitely didn't enjoy
It as much as Canada day last year but was still in good company. I knew what I was getting into with Sven and I thought I could enjoy his sound in a party atmosphere but never got into his set. It had its moments but lacked groove and melodies which are everything for me. Same hard bass line is so boring. Those few electro tracks he played were embarrassing

If anyone is wondering, first track is Robert Hood-Eleven. Awesome track but not sure about it fitting into a sunset moment lol.

Special K
Fun event, though could have been better if the sound, food, washroom situations weren't as bad as they were. Felt like déjà vu from last year.

Excited for Canada day which I think is the best lineup yet.

Another awesome Electric Island with out a doubt!

Sure there was the ususal issues with food and washroom lineups but isnt that to be expected lol Im not picky about the sound quality but if you were in the crowd up front you really could hear the distortion which did suck, I wouldnt say it ruined the party thou. It did clear up as the night went on.
The only real downer is the fact that there was no ins and outs and we left our sweaters and (vodak) in the lockers (the lockers by pizzapizza). luckily my gf was able to sweet talk the cute lil old security guard man (the man was pretty tiny lol) at the front gate to run out and get our sweaters...

The Bar line moved super quickly like last year...
anyways Sven killed it! I dont recall a bad tune from anyone, I had a nice groove going all day.

Went to the after party at Coda as I had the tuesday booked off... only $15 to get in, not to bad... Got there around 11-1130... the first dj was pretty sikk and had me and my gf dancing pretty hard... anyways we were dancing up front to the right of the booth near the steps and my gf pointed out that sven is standing next to me watching the club from the bottom step (which was empty, it got busier around 12:30). I looked up and seen him walking back up, i walked up and said hi... hes got a really raspy german voice... he looked rather old and battle worn from years of partying... he didnt look to impressed with the turn out at Coda... I stuck around to 3 hoping he would come out but no luck he was gone, i guess he didnt want to play to a smaller crowd... that kind of really sucked but i still had a good time...

Hey Folks

I Would like to chime in now that I have some time to do so.

First off I would like to thank everyone that came out and supported this event....we are very happy that the weather co operated and very happy that everyone was able to enjoy the island and the beautiful weather we had last Monday.

As many as you know we had a few issues arise on Monday and would like to address these now:

1) Sound..We started noticing at around 5:30 pm, at the end of Daniel Avery's set, that the sound was a bit distorted so we started looking into it. We quickly investigated everything that was in the signal path and could not find the culprit. We checked everything from needles to the mixer to the vinyl to the cables to the mix-board and after about 2 hours or looking into it we finally found the issue. Our Analogue-to-Digital Converters had melted down and did not work properly so we decided to bypass them and then the sound was top Notch. Some people thought that Sven was redlining the Mixer but I can assure you that was not the case..Sven is a professional and he was playing in the limits and the converters were at fault here. That being said...we did the best we could and we did not have this problem at sound check so there was not much we could have done to prevent this collapse in audio gear.

2) Washrooms. We experienced long lines for washroom use. Funny thing is that we had more washrooms than last years last event which had no washroom issues at all. So for the next event we made a containment to add another 30+ washrooms in our area which should fix the problem.

3) Food. We lost the Food Dude as their truck had issues and another company had to bail for unconfirmed reasons. So we only had 3 of the 5 planned food trucks in service. That being said all 5 food trucks will be available for the Canada Day Event and this should fix this problem.

Lastly I would like to mention that we are working very hard to make this event run as perfect as possible....and we will continue to work on every single issue until it is a well oiled machine :)

We hope to see you all on Canada Day

The promo poster backdrop was a nice touch ;)
