heh to sum it up, Mea Culpe/James Holden/Max Graham/L-vee/M.I.K.E all have complex multi layered melody.. and personally WOW is the epitome of that but they lean more closely to progressive house than trance :p

| Some of the stuff you guys are suggesting to me is good, but a few of your suggestions aren't what I'm looking for at all. Songs like Kamaya Painters - Endless Wave and Gouryella - Tenshi aren't really polyphonic in the true sense. Sure, they have big-sounding multilayered synths, but they don't have that feel of many melodies at once trying to fight over your attention. Also, a lot of the songs being suggested I find are more laid back/chillout style or are more along the lines of progressive house than trance. What I am truly looking for are hard, bangin tracks where I can just go nuts and lose myself in the melodic complexity - Songs where there is so much going on at once that it's impossible to keep up. I have found more than enough hard house and Goa songs like this (the #1 track in my sig right now, Astral Projection - Liquid Sun, has massive polyphony) but what I'm looking for is trance... not laid back chillout trance but bangin, hard-hitting trance. I still have yet to download many of your suggestions, and some of them are proving to be quite hard to find (as a lot of good trance is). Thanks for all of your suggestions, and even if they aren't what I'm looking for they are all still good tracks. Maybe sometime I'll get a nice high speed internet and download everything. |

| I think to put it simply you're just about describing a sub-genre of Electronic music that has long been in existence- progressive trance. Prime examples would include, for me, Yunus- Red Pilot, Dave Swazye- Yasmine's Garden, Nalin and Kane- Open Your Eyes. Probably not too euphoric in nature, these tracks, but sends a shiver down your spine because the synths only come in after, what, 3 to 4 minutes of pure-bliss-buildup. Maybe that's what you're refering to.. |

Heh good point... but the songs I'm talking about are also very melodic in nature. When I listen to PPK - Resurrection and Taste Experience - Highlander, I consider them much mroe melodic than progressive. Sure they have longer build-ups, but the synths are always in there right away, keeping it melodic. An example of a song like what you're talking about would be Bedrock - Set In Stone. It has 3-4 mins of progressive build-ups before any significant melody comes in, then gives a hint of synths and progresses to a massive orgasmic polyphonic climax. Same with a lot of the tracks in Airdrawndagger. I'm looking for tracks that are more melodic and trancey in nature. Taste Experience - Highlander (Original Mix) is a perfect example of this. There is never a second in that song when there isn't something going on melodically... from the start you get a lead and chords, and it just builds and builds from there to a fantastic climax. The whole progression makes me wanna go wild, there are so many lead synths, it's fantastic. I recommend you download this track and listen to it. If you can't find it, it's track 1 from Oakenfold's essential mix at Shadow Louge, Miami. Maybe then you'll understand what I mean... |
