Hello all. I made an account today because I'm tired of posting quality stuff on my SoundCloud and having no one hear it. I want some people to let me know how I'm doing, why _____ sounds good/bad, and where I should start to improve it. I'm sure that's half of what we all aim to accomplish on this forum, the other half, is probably to make us feel good about ourselves for making something you deem fit for the ears, and people acknowledging that, in a positive manner preferably. I aim to do both hopefully. This is my SoundCloud link:

The only criticism I've ever had was from the Trance producer Falcon, who is a great guy and went far out of his way to make me get better. I know for a fact that what he told me was implanted into me and made my tracks better. The latest tracks I made show that. I am most proud of my ATEOTD remix and the original track "Siren", as well as my Work-In-Progress remix of "Find Yourself", but I'd like the TranceAddict community to let me know what they think of my music. Thank you for reading, and I will periodically check back on this forum to read and reply to any replies I receive on this thread.
Thanks,
Jeremy Free |

| I don't really use YouTube for music, though I used to, but quickly gave up due to my slow network speeds. SoundCloud is the best I can do at this time. I appreciate the listens too. Icon was my first "good" song, so I keep it in high regard, but I feel like it doesn't properly reflect my current level of skill, hence, why I was spotlighting my Snatt & Vix remix. |

| Keep it up man. Some nice tunes, particularly your end of the day remix. All sounds really professional |

| Thank you for replying. It really makes me happy to hear that. I never get any criticism, and it pisses me off that I work as much as I do on these tracks and hear nothing from it. :/ But yeah, my ATEOTD remix is easily my favorite track that I've produced. Love the lead sound on it. Gotta love that feeling when you stumble on a lead hook that just works so well. Listen to the original song and you'll see that it sounds nothing like the original, and works better than the original. :) |

| Sounds good man. Definitely use Youtube though if you can. |

| Eventually I probably will. Just the prospect of wasting my time trying to upload to YouTube with these poor up speeds sends shivers down my spine is all, lol. |

Listening to Tenshi right now while reading your profile on SoundCloud.
| quote: | | Still need help with mastering and EQing though, so go easy on me, ... |
Your track is crushed by the limiter, almost to the point where it's no longer plesant to listen to. To fix this, you should reduce the levels going in to the master bus. Make sure the signal strength remains below 0 dB, even without the limiter enabled. It's a common practice among mastering engineers to work with a 6 dB headroom, if you aim for the -6 dB level while making your track you don't have to worry about this issue when you are doing the final mixdown.
When it comes to mixing and EQ, it's important to give the different instruments their own range to play with. At 1.52, your mix starts to become "muddy" when the pads are added. Adding a high pass filter to take away the low frequencies in the pads will leave more room for the bass, reducing the "mud". Tip: Highpass everything that's not bass! Experiment with different ranges on different instruments, but try to use soft cutoff curves.
I like the melody you made for the middle part, but what caught my attention was the energy you created with the bass and percussion from 1 minute and up to the point where pads fades in. |
