How open is sex at your college?

| Hi... I have a question for all of you who are in college now or went to college recently enough for your experiences to be similar to those today... how much do people talk about/post billboard pictures or events about, sex? I am just wondering because around where I am it seems very excessive, but I don't know if this is just a problem with me or if it really is over the top. For example, it would not be out of the ordinary to see a naked picture of a girl, neck down (can't see her face) and have a contest that says 'Guess the girl, win a prize'. Does this happen where you go? If so, does it bother you at all? Another thing popular here is chalking, my school has a very diverse sexual background and everyone is always super eager to share whatever it is they do with the rest of the school. I have no problem with any sexuality and I'm not an easily offended person, but sometimes I just don't really want to think about other people's sex lives when I'm walking down the street to dining hall. (example chalking: 'I love and have one'. Again, this has nothing to do with sexual preference. I happen to be straight, but I'd be just as disappointed to see a similar quote targeting my sexuality too. There is a time and place for everything, I'd rather just think about sex on my own and have them think about it on their own too, unless talking with personal friends or whatever, but not complete strangers. Am I weird??? |

I would say tongue in cheek unaccepting.
On the surface, we have all those gay pride trappings which you would expect at any college. This afternoon or Monday we are having some sort of "coming out" party (I will not be attending). But judging the majority viewpoints of most people here, I would assume there is quite a bit of intolerance, it just never surfaces.
Personally I do like how they constantly must shove it in everyone's face but they have the right to do as they please |

Dear God, and you guys think that Brazil is the "sin country"
It's a culture thing, I guess. Here, you'd never have such problem at schools, because we're too puritan and closed about sex (I mean, we'd hardly talk about it to strangers... specially at school). Posting pictures of naked girls? Heh, you'd be expelled immediately (or the whole class would be suspended), and other people wouldn't like it at all. Gay people coming out!? Never ever, if someone wants to do (or be) something, he doesn't need to claim it to everyone else ( also, some dumb people would kick his arse anyway  ).
Obviously, as in any other place in the world, there are more open-minded people, however, not at school (TV or in the streets may be) |

our school is definitely not like that.
in general, tho, i think people's hormones triple when they go off to a university. for most people, this is the first time away from their parents, a newfound freedom. this, of course, corollates to the newfound freedom to go to town with all the other hormone crazy people, also excited about their newfound freedom.
so i dunno, cant really blame them for what they do, first time that they can probably express it as much as they are doing. at the same time, i would feel very uncomfortable if my school was like that. i tend to eat lunch by myself, because i get a lot of studying/assignments done during that time. and really, its kind of awkward for me when the guys at the table next to me wont shut up about what girls that are wanting by, they want to .. or talking in great detail about the girl they ed the night before. the bragging is a turnoff anyways. girls do it too of course, but i hear it way more from guys. that doesnt have anything to do with being "ok" with sex, or my sexuality, just that i dont feel i should have to listen to everyone else's sex life. if i did, id watch a porno. |
