I voted for GU009...but I love everything I've heard by these 2 (Gu's 6, 9, 13, MMII, ADD).
Oh, and by the way, you missed Digweed's GU14: Hong Kong :)
And can someone explain to me the way the NE's work? Cuz the actual releases don't go along in numbers, but different names (East Coast Ed., etc etc etc)...which is the first, second, third and so on? |

hmm, i'll take a stab at this, since i have all three
Northern Exposure 1 = North (Disc 1) / South (Disc 2)
Northern Exposure 2 = East (Disc 1) / West (Disc 2)
Northern Exposure 3 = Expeditions name given to the 2 cds, ie
(disc 1 = expedition 1, disc 2 = expedition 2)
label wise
Northern Exposure 1 = Ministry Of Sound
Northern Exposure 2 = Ministry Of Sound
Northern Exposure 3 = Sony/Incredible
Northern Exposure 1
now theres 2 versions of NE1
a) the beutiful double digipack fold out case (uk release only?)[deleted, dont bother asking at hmv for this!!] containing both cds in there entirity (supposedly rare, looking at maybe £70/$100) absolutly breathtaking case, a work of art, easily distinctive, gives the impression that it was meticoulsly crafted, very detailed info about mix, tracks used in the mix, and a visual mix guide, (innovative not seen this arround b4 :)), ive read this was mixed by computer, does not detract from the quality of mixing, it adds to it, ive read that they had to mix by pc to do some of the stuff they did, i think like layering vocal fx, over parts of the mix, at times theres three distinct musical tracks running/mixed concurrently
b) the single american disc, with shortened version of NE1, doesnt contain the beutiful fold out case, only 1 disc, and in a plastic case, (american release, commonly availble, avg price £15/$18,, lacks the mix guide and much of the info,
Northern Exposure 2
as with NE1 theres 2 versions
a) a double pack foldout cd, just amazing as the first,(uk release only) (and deleted as well :() still retaining the visual distinctiveness and same awe inspiring looks :)
still has the visual mix guide and detailed track info as the first,
cd 1 and 2 are collured a nice glossy sunny yellow, with navy blue text and cute minstry sound logos. unlike the first theres a message on the back
| quote: | | This album has been entirely mixed from vinyl and therefore may contain some surface noise. We apologize for this and hope it does not spoil your enjoyment |
haha, like hell it does, hearing sweet sound of vinyl, adds to the enjoyment :p
b) this time theres 2 single cd releases, East Coast and West Coast, sol sepratly and like the first, widely availbe, in the same cd plastic case, should be availbe less than £20/$20
Northern Exposure 3
unlike the first 2 this is only a 2cd set release, its widely available, but this time it was not released on MOS rather Sony/Incredible
its lost the gatefold digipack casing that made the first 2 such pleasure to hold and feel and visually admire, it comes in a standard double plastic cd case, has a booklet insert, with both mugshots of digweed and sasha, track info is not as detailed and the lack of a visual mix guide, overall presentation seems bare to say the least compared to the first 2,
now, theres apparently 2 versions of this
1) with 9 tracks on cd ,
2) earlier one with 10 tracks on, the extra one being track 7, Delirium - Silence (Fade Sanctaury mix) which was removed due to copyright issues, this one is rarer than the later & more common one
that doesnt have this track.
hope that helps :)

WOW, thanks a lot for that man :) So CD2 from NE1 isn't included in the N. American release :( damn...Hehe, I'll have to keep my :eyes: open for the full releases of NE1 and 2, maybe someday I'll run into some :clown: that has both of them and is willing to sell'em for a good price  (lol, hopefully I'll get these 2 before I fly to Mars next year :p). It's too bad that the 2 NE releases were butchered down for the North American market :( As for NE3...the label speaks for itself
Anyways, thanks again for that. Would be nice to collect as much early stuff of theirs as possible...the earliest I own is GU006 by Digweed. |
