so i was doing security for this 3 day festival out here, i was basically posted back stage for most of the event, got to meet some of the artist

i gotta say armin van buuren although he required additional security in the beginning of his set (for obvious reasons) he was the only one who stayed behind afterwards shook every hand, even played for additional 10-15 minutes after the crowd wouldn't stop screaming for a encore ..took photo's ....granted he was probably paid the most ....but it seems like he genuinely loves this whole trance thing, and all the theatrics that come along with it, either that or he's just not an ...

i'm not going to name the other artist that closed the following two nights because i don't really care for them but pretty much insert random dubstep dj's from toronto that have rose to stardom in the last couple of years, and two female dj's behind the decks (so much talent) acted like total rockstars , didn't stay a minute past their set time and they were the closing acts, almost seemed like a bank job for them.

so take that as you will...

Many won't believe you, but I always said he's just a really nice guy. In Holland people don't accept different behaviour when becoming a 'star' easily, which keeps some of our 'stars' with their feet on the ground, not all though.

I can vouch that he is a standup guy and genuine... a tough act to maintain in a scene full of shady characters and douchenozzle opportunists.

Too bad he doesn't actually play trance anymore. I don't respect him as a DJ or musician anymore. Only his old stuff was good.

Personally, if I met him I would tell him how horrible his track selection has gotten and his team selects the most awful sounding tracks ever and that they should be ALL FIRED

When will the "to bad or so sad he doesn't play trance anymore thing end" its in every armin, tiesto, pvd thread.

if that's the case, then he has my respect. What I care about more than music itself is a good human being.

I ended up working Security For the ASOT stage at EDC in NJ back in 2012 and I have to also agree that Armin was very humble. And even back then he walked from his trailer to the stage w/o any additional security. he chatted wit fans, took pics, etc.

I will say this though, I've heard quite a bit of negative stories about ATB, but he was one guy who surprised me, Super nice guy. I was talking with him for a bit and his wife comes along and says to me " you want me to take a pic of you t2"...and he was "yea man lets get a pic". his attitude completely took me off guard...

armin def is a cool guy. i remember back in 03 he spun when he spun in nyc he showed up like 30 min early and was chilling outside the dj booth talking to fans then after his set he stayed around

marco v is another stand up guy. i remember back in 03 or 04 i went to see him and back then i had to order all his mix cd's via europe. he was really shocked i had them and thanked me alot of ordering them. he let me chill in the dj booth with him and even offered me some drinks from his bottle

"I owe a lot to Canada, I owe a lot to the Canadian crowd because it was one of the first countries to really embrace Trance music. Actually, one of the most important web sites back in the days was TranceAddict which was based out of Toronto and one of the really influential clubs for a really long time was the Guvernment based out of Toronto. So, this was always kind of the "capital" of Trance a little bit for a very long time... and still is there is still a lot of love for Trance music."
