To the OP: Time to look for trance in other genres. I doubt you will see too much raw trance elements in mainstream dance music anytime soon.
Trance as you knew it 10+ years ago is dead, its not coming back anytime soon. Get over it. |

No. YOUR ing genre started this . YOUR ing genre brought it to the masses and attracted them to raves, clubs and festivals with their "jangly keys in front of a raccoon" builds and breakdowns nonsense. YOUR buttboys Oakenfold, Tiesto, Ferry, Armin and every dutch dork that followed caned that to death. YOUR ing fault. Your DJs made this normal.
And now the current generation can't go 16 bars in a set without a ing drop/breakdown. If you want someone to blame, try looking into a mirror. You all became TAs because of this formula and now you bemoan the raping of it in other genres.

Holy Ishkur straight up came up from the cuts! I'm actually quite honored to have you here discussing with me. I didn't think I'd ever have a chance to talk to you. Respect, man.
I'm well aware that it was anthem trance that paved the roads for the electro house post-2010 stuff, and yeah it's a shame that with every corporate music takeover concept gets raped by too much exploit and milking. I watched a documentary about the Golden Age of Rock n Roll, and in the decade of the 80s they said the same thing as well, all the corporate hats and bandwagoner rockers just hopped the scene and raped the idea over and over until there was literally ONLY heavy metal on every radio station and on every minute.
So isn't that the same thing that happened with trance? but the thing is, instead of people like Tiesto branching off into something else, all the high hats really did was just recycle the idea into house music and slapped it together creating electro house, or trouse, with the former influence of trance.
Well, I can't really argue, maybe it really is our fault, but the entire time I was pretty convinced that it is the DJs and the (American) masses having a lack of proper taste in EDM. |

David Guetta is responsible though for trying to team up with all the hip hop artists and making the breakthrough though, which back in 2009-2010 was sorta new when you started seeing Nicki Minaj or all those other black dudes FEATURING David Guetta in the their music videos. I mean, I dont entirely blame it on him, he's just a slight example of who I wanted to imply.
btw, that's a dope track you posted. You know it took me 6 years to get into Hard Trance from the 90s? That took a long time! I am young. |

the doof/psy trance scene is pretty big, the music is closer to the original sound of trance (in fact at this point it really is back to the sound of 1994) and the people it attracts and the types of parties that accomidate it are much akin to those 'electric hippies' of the early 90s.
so i would say no its really not going anywhere.
your preferred version of trance (2004 dutch im guessing?) however may not ever come back - and anything close to it is probably 10 years off. |

| the reason why i like trance/make trance/dance to trance.....has and always will be , the build..not the drop...real trance has the most euphoric and awesome builds.....the drop is just necessary....trance that has all the emphasis on the drop...isn't trance...it's progressive...the drop-centric tunes are all what i would call EDM.....trance is about the build. psy trance, which i'm not into...it's fast and monotone, techy....is about an overall high-energy beat and constant throbing bassline. psytrance is more trance than the AVB stuff thats all drop centric. most of the avb tiesto stuff is EDM, with trance elements...you cant even call it trance anymore....it sounds like elecreto house... |
