Which genre was bigger in 2001, Trance or Progressive? (pg. 4)

I referenced dubstep as a counter to what you were claiming earlier. I feel like a lot of what you're saying is anecdotal and lacks a lot of context that's needed to back up your claims.

I don't really know what the hell any of this means, for instance:

quote:
Can't possibly see how....

The 'Superclubs' during the period I mentioned were rammed every week / month.
DJs would spend £100 a week on vinyl easily.
Consider the numbers of albums that Gatecrasher, Godskitchen, Euphoria, GU, MOS sold.
Cd single sales were through the roof in HMV / Tower Records / Virgin.....
Floorfiller
i would say that the two genre's were pretty much at odds back in that era. as someone else said, you basically had people that worshiped the various prog dj's or worshiped the tiesto's armin's of the world.

here is a perfect example...

As someone said, GU 21 Deep Dish Moscow and GU19 Digweed Los Angeles are both from 2001

vs.

DJ Tiesto - In My Memory 2001

vs.

Paul Oakenfold - Bunnka 2002

a lot of prog lovers consider these to be some of the best albums in the history of the GU series. those same people may have a few year's earlier really enjoyed DJ Tiesto or Paul Oakenfold, but a lot of these people really hated the direction these guys were going and considered them sell outs.

at the same time a lot of people were getting introduced to music through artists like tiesto and armin and their various sets. these guys usually found the prog albums mentioned above a little boring and didn't get it. also they didn't really like the constant jabs at their fav artists and so there was a bit of a divide.
