Classic case of "different strokes" I guess. You loved what you heard, I was bored as hell.

yesir. Can't wait for end of dec. my lady can't make it and I guess it's kinda wrong to go without her. She is a huge august fan. Poor her.

Ive seen Three a couple times. Always amazed by his sets. Usually he'd open for someone (Sasha, Joris Voorn), and set them up perfect.

In my Opinion, to set the groove of the party is the hardest and also the coolest part of the night. Three is a master at it.

Jimmy Van M opened for Sasha at Space (maybe 2007?? i cant remember) Best opening set I've ever heard.

Sven not technical?

You do realize the guy spins vinyl, right?

To claim Damian Lazaras or Three are more technical is absurd, especially considering they both seem to regularly use CDJs for their sets.

Not to knock either of those guys for their "technical" skills, but to discredit Sven for his is wack.

EDIT: I'm glad I didn't go to this. I had a feeling a) It wasn't going to compare to his WG set and b) It'd be an overall letdown for the money spent. I had a much better time watching the Gators stomp the Dawgs :D

Jimmy is one of the most constant openers around...been seeing him open up all over NYC from Twilo to Crobar to Pacha to centro fly, the guy has always delivered the goods

I guess it depends on what people mean by "technical." If it means adding FX, loops, frequently adjusting the pitch, etc then no I guess Sven isn't as "technical" as those other two. But I go to shows to hear sick tracks and dance and have a good time and for that, track selection is paramount.

I think that reading the room, playing off the vibe, building excitement, energy through the actual tracks you're playing is the more valid definition of being a technician.

To me track selection is the most important thing. If you have elite skills turning knobs on the A&H but you are playing some far-out spacey bull music, then I'm still not interested, "leet skills" or not. Give me some I wanna hear and, yes, mix it effectively and make it more interesting, but the overly-complicated mixing styles that are becoming so big nowadays is a phenomenon that misses the mark IMO.

I was all about the technical and then I realized that the crowds don't give two s if you have 4 loops running throwing effects everywhere. Play bombs, moms.

hate to bring him up but thats exactly why tiesto used to be good. he was never a good technical dj, but dude knew how to construct a set and drop bombs.

I was off on another planet that night, so maybe that had something to do with it too!

Is that the last time Sasha played Space Miami??

On the technical convo...I could give a if the dj is playing 2 ipods honestly...Track selection is key. But i guess if you are paying money to see a DJ you want them to at least put in some effort. Bottom line you should be there to dance. Maybe they should just hide the DJ and see what happens...
