That was a fun party and potentially a nice send off for guv. Saying that, not sure if I'm going to miss the place that much...it had its day and all but toronto needs a new superclub.
First, Diggers was solid. I give him points for playing an interesting set style-wise, a fresh approach for sure. And just super smooth..silky transitions that you simply didn't even notice.
Still, not my favourite set I've seen from him; this was my 7th time so Im not exactly dissing the legend. He played a lot of interesting trippy, banging tech midway through his set which was cool and brought the energy up. However, he lost me at some moments where he was a bit loopy...dragging on in some parts.
One thing for sure, he was blasting it that night! It was loud as e in there. My ears were ringing horribly after, you def need earplugs in that place and totally my mistake. One of the speakers by the bar/smoking entrance was blown by the end of the night.
Crowd-wise, def reminded me of the older days...much more mature than you would normally see at the guv. Ratio suffered as a result and it was a little pushy at times but you couldnt really expect anything better.
And I give credit to the guy for playing over 5 hours knowing he had stereo the next night. Diggers is a beast. |

I missed a hell of a show it seems :p
That Ame remix is indeed good. The original to me is just pure class and I'm glad Ame didn't ruin it. |

Had some time to think about this event so here I am now. Entry was a breeze as stated earlier and that old nostalgic feeling hit me pretty fast. Crowd was good, less sketchier than what's it been in the past.
Digweed's set was good, but not the best I've heard. Last time I heard him was at UMF Korea 2012 but that was only for 2 hours and I was anxious to hear a proper long set by this guy. It did seem to drag at points but he'd usually throw in a track to get me interested again in the set. It was really cool hearing all those special tracks near the end of his set, nice to just hear him play those sort of tracks, especially knowing how this would be his last time playing here. We Are Connected was a big suprise, my first and probably last time hearing this track being played out like this. Yeah i'm gonna miss the Guv, kudos to the Diggers for playing for 5 hours. The Deep Dish event should be another trek to the past as well. |

That was fun. Solid 7 out of 10 for me. Probably would have been higher if I wasn't so pissed off all night cuz of Toronto FC.
Decent crowd, didn't see much doucheness. Packed but not overly packed. Spent lots of time in Deluxe Lounge helped. Friends, solid Digweed set, I was happy for most part. (Though sound was pretty horrid. Glad I brought some ER15s)
I might go to the Gift or the final closing party, but emotionally, I said my farewell to the Guv. Special place in my memories. Defined a lot of good times during my 20s.
There are a lot of clubs in Toronto, and there will be even better ones in the future, but there is only one Guv, and no other club will be as special as. (though I won't miss the stale, weed and smoke laced air) |
Good review, agreed on there only ever going to be one Guv part.

Not much to say that hasn't been said already. I agree with the statement that I'd be happy with that being my last night at guv but I'm planning on doing the gift and maybe the actual closing parties depending on the lineups |
The Gift... that's where I'll make up for missing this! :toocool: |

| There is only one Guv, but apparently Charles is making another super club that's gonna be twice the size of Guv |

Probably the best news I've had in the last while. I'm so glad I attended this event (was going to anyway).
Thanks to BigBoss for the breaking news. |

I totally get you. I'm glad I attended but also thought he was for sure going to do Montreal. Maybe next time.

| quote: | So as this was going to be my last time playing at the Guvernment before it closes, I knew it had the potential to be a special night but the crowd on this night completetly excelled themselves. From the very first track to the very last the vibe and energy from the dance floor was one of the most intense I have ever experienced there. It was the perfect night to record the next in my Live In... series out on 8.12.14. Now available for pre-order here > bedrockmusic.bigcartel.com/products

I've already preordered mine. I will add it to Argentina and Miami. |

| While I agree that it's nice to have a tangible memory of that night, I don't think CDs or Vinyl are anyway to listen to a live set due to having to change the CD every 75 mins or flip the record every 30 |
