Here's the question...... when visiting a website do you like to hear background music?
Pjotr G
nope it only onnoys me because it's either very low quality sound, or just a loop that gets boring after 2 loops, plus I'm often listening to music on winamp anyways, don't like 2 tunes at the same time.

my 2 cents

I know that FLASH designers use 10sec loops on there pages for background music but, with flash they always have an on/off button so surfers can easily turn it off.

I know what your saying about listening to your own music then you goto a page and the sound is all ed up and your like what the is going on.....lol...... thats when you get pissed.......lol

if u are asking shoud u use sound on ur website i would say NO
webworkfilms
So are you also saying that you listen to mp3's while surfing and if a website had music playing it would piss you off? Or are you saying you get pissed no matter what? lol

What if the website was for a Record Label and they put some of there tracks or maybe just a sample mix of new releases playing in the background? Is it still a no.

I for one think that whatever your site is geared towards it would be ok to have music playing if it was a music site(but, have a turn off button) and if it was a movie, or film site have some sort of video playing but, real short like 20sec's max.

There's just so many websurfers with so many likes and dislikes that to please everyone would be impossible.

no.

it's always a "no", there can , however, be a button that says "play" or something
but anything that automatically starts sucks, and that includes background music

It tends to piss me off to. When I'm on line. I either have my own music on, or am at work, and dont want music jumping out at me. If its for a record label. Then I dont mind the option of listning to some of their tracks, but I really hate it when I have to go searching all over the site to find the button to stop the music as soon as I get there.

NO!

I HATE music that plays in the background..whenever I hear it I instantly search for the stop button. :whip:

i always have something playing...be it my mp3 player on my pc, my cd player....the radio....whatever...so i rarely hear sounds on websites.

yea i'd have to say no too because background music is just a waste of bandwidth, honestly who cares about some crappy midi, or wav of whatever, when it comes to non-technical sites.
