| Sullivan's Cove is kind of scarce and hard to find, but really nice. Hellyers Road is also relatively decent and at a good price, I'm more of a wino though so I kind of have different tastes when it comes to spirits in general |

Yeah Highland Park is great for how cheap it is. I found myself drifting away from Highland malts though. I've come to dislike their sweetness. |
Highland Park isn't a Highland malt. It's from orkney which is its own whiskey region. |

| Right, but it tastes like a Highland. |

| Appreciate all these recommendations. It's Friday and time to make a trip to the local spirits store. Not sure how many of these fine recommendations one can find in a small town in ye olde Dirty South, but I am going to give the shelves a careful poring over on my lunch break. Unfortunately, I have to listen to the guy behind the counter yell Hindi into his cell phone the entire time. He's clueless, I am sure. I think he just wants you to hurry up, get a bottle, and GTFO so he can get back to his call. I wonder how much business they lose as a direct result of his lack of knowledge and/or inability to make recommendations...? |

You can't go wrong with Laphroaig whiskey. |
Yes you can, not everyone likes smoke, not everyone likes peat, without knowing where in the whiskey quadrant his friends prefers to be, it's tricky to recommend.

I'm not a fan of smoke or peat, and my go-to whiskeys are Glenlivet, Balvenie and Aberlour. |

Another great entry from Dalwhinnie is their 15 year old which is not very peaty, very fruity, and lively. This is my go to Scotch, the one I drink most at home.

Thanks for this. Bought a bottle for my brother in law. I know sweet all about scotch, and even less about his preferences. I hope he likes it! I trust your taste though, so...

| Indeed, he was pretty excited about it! In return they gifted us a bottle of Macallan Amber. Again, I am not a Scotch drinker, but I must say it's quite tasty in my limited knowledge. Certainly very smooth compared to other Scotches I've tried. |
