Hello! With a budget of ~ 700$ what monitors would you recommend to a fellow tranceaddict to "pair up" with his akg240? :toothless

Hmm what about the brand new range silver toped akg monitors, andy28 & tehlord have a pair. Class Double A amplification with DSP sound.

How big is your room?

15 square meter

AKG monitors look tempting, but then I will have to buy an akg soundcard and keyboard as well to get a full match :eyespop:

Relatively the same as my and I'm using JBL LSR305 5" (came down from Yamaha HS 80) - so far so good, can't complain ;).

I guess that in a room like this even with some good treatment it still will be a bass mud fest for 8" monitors, right? xD

Is that why you went smaller Darek?

Yes, bass from Yamaha's where overwhelming everything else in this room - like bass was killing every other freq in it - even with proper room treatment still couldn't get satisfactory results.

Edit: Still have Yamaha's in different room + B&W in living room for final check.

Cheers,

Its by far the hardest thing to judge.. I always thought 5" monitors would be too small but they seem quite popular atm. I assumed they would lack a lot of low end.

Must be nice to have a selection now for comparing your work on.

I would suggest to go for JBL LSR305 5" and save some for other things in your studio - I'm pretty happy from what I can get from those JBL so on the end of the day it is all about what you will be happy from lol

thing about 5" monitors is that they just wont put out any sub worth mentioning. This is fine once you realise this, it just makes it difficult to hear what exactly is going below 50/60 Hz
