My friends review of Tiesto at Roxy

This is not DJPio, and I'm not an expert on trance in the least, but for the past two years I've been seduced and charmed by Dj Tiesto's high-producing creations. Saw him for the firt time at Limelight (met him too!), later on at Exit twice, and last night, at the Roxy, where he once again upstaged himself. After a tight introduction by another dj who played some older Tiesto, he waltzed in, all presence and smiles as usual, and broke it down on the tables. After the meatheads who were crowding the floor left, a group of hardcore Tiesto fans stayed behind, hypnotized in an intimate connection with the music and the master. He read the crowd, which was made up of all kinds of people from all over the place, with such mature insight, so that hands in the crowd went up simultaneously, hushed silences infected the crowd at the same time, and dancing frenzys rocked the whole club. Instead of seeing his crowds reaction (he definitely owned us)to something he did and trying to stick with what obviously pleasing, he would make the whole crowd wildly excited, pumping arms, clapping, stomping, the essence of motion one moment, then paralyze us with an almost disturbing intensity that made your head spin and your heart beat, and just plain ed with your head and emotions. Frantic, hard, melodic, calming, disturbing, I kept yelling "wow". He threw out his first song I ever heard, Gouryella-gouryella, and the enchanting Clockwork Orange theme at the most surprising and perfectly calculated moments in the set. The crowd was so affected, at one point, a strange girl standing behind me confided that a few minutes earlier she had orgasmed just listening. Crazy but I believed her. Even the visual effects guy ended up on the dancefloor, up by the music. Now I sit here with my signed record, which he pulled out of his case and signed with his costumary happy face O, a heart and a big "NYC!" and the music is still flowing through me, and I've tried to find the right words to describe the spell he cast on the people present last night, but it's almost impossible... In one word? Transcendental.
And the pleasantly surprised look when I screamed "Puerto Rico loved you" made my night.

Amit u werent there, so STFU!!!! Tiesto was great in Roxy, lots of new traxx, great mixing and getting into the croud...
If u showed up and didnt like it, then we would respect your opinion... |
