Things have definitely gotten more varied in terms of BPM though. A couple of years ago, hearing any modern/new school techno track above 130 was unusual, now there are plenty of producers regularily going in the 130s. I feel like the average BPM at techno party also has gone up a bit over the past couple of years. A lot of people still think that modern techno never goes above 130, but Berghain for example goes up to 135 and higher pretty regularily.

I listen to some old sets from 2004/2005 where the bpm is around 135 and wonder how the i ever danced to that

Pfft. I once danced to 146bpm psytrance from 11pm to 9am. By the end I could barely stand up.

By the way Woony, keep posting this kind of PLURtastic techno for me to nab for my sets.

first track of that is very nice by the way

PLURtastic techno definitely should be a genre. One thing that sucks about talking music with people without a trance background is that they don't get PLUR/unicorn/lazer jokes/references.

Sounds like mid-late 90's techno, reminding me a bit of Blu Peter's '97 EM:

Never heard of that guy, really digging the style in that set. Any more in that vein?

You might like this one, albeit it's a bit less melodic and more acidic:

If you like Nasty's style, I do recommend checking his earlier mixes, where he mixes oldschool prog trance and tech.

And if you want to go further back still, might as well check out one of my fav. mixes:

The general trend is that the older it gets, the less repetitive and more experimental it is.
Woony
I think i've heard that CJ Bolland mix, I dig the tracks and stuff but I just can't really stand that early 90s, 'pitch everything way the up' style. I've heard of Billy Nasty but not sure if i've ever actually listened to one of his mixes, i'll check it out.

No way. That B Nasty set is BRUTAL. Didn't even remember it existed.

Thanks for that, alpha!

Would love to hear your set, Woony. Sounds like something I'd like. Unfortunately I can't dl or stream from sc due to a ps3 browzr :(

Is up on youtube, perhaps?

There's a second hand record store near me that's had most of his React label CDs collecting dust on the shelf for about five years.

I had React as a Drum&Bass label in my mind because of the Artcore series.
Woony
I went through the React catalogue, most of the 12" releases seem fairly mediocre. Maybe the compilations fare better?

His Reactivate mixes are much more Trance-oriented, nothing like his EM, really.

His productions are also quite nice, but more house and trance-oriented, again nothing like his EM.

Just came upon his entire album on Youtube, which is sounding very nice and shows his unique style:

I have uploaded this DJ set of B Nasty. And it is my personal favourite. He only plays Techno classics. Made some visuels for it too. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yk2...gQxeJS&index=41

You will find many, Many Techno DJ sets on my youtube channel.
