Sounds like early 90s trance to me. 'Techno with pads' and all that

Very interesting. I agree with the previous post. It sounds old-school. And Techno. And the drums sounds heavy TR-909 (what probably makes it sound old-school) The BPM range is also Unusual for today's standards.

It's fast, but not unusually so. Techno above 130 BPM is quite common these days.

I guess it depends what you consider common. I am a Techno DJ and Producer. And I usually work with a BPM range around 126 BPM. And this sounded faster then 130 to me. But perhaps I am wrong.

This is one of my Techno Sets.

And this is my latest release. What was released by record label Traum. Perhaps you heard of it. Its pretty famous.

Yea I heard of Traum. Cool. But you and I play different styles of techno. Here is a set of mine from last year, if you are curious. But I kept this one at 128 BPM.

And if you're curious there's this one too which I bring up to 134 BPM eventually

Sounds like mid-late 90's techno, reminding me a bit of Blu Peter's '97 EM:

I like this sound. I am not aware of it. (BTW I don't play Traum like techno songs. In fact that particular song was on the album Tour the Traum IX en it was described as the most Techno song of the entire album. It is also way harder then Traum usually make. that is way it was alsmost the last song on the album, Because Usually I think traum is way to soft. So I don't think I am into Traum. Because I am happy that they released my song. But it is not a usual Traum song. Even Traum them selfs said so. :) well if you check out the song you hear for your self)

I do play faster Techno around 128 BPM from time to time. But more stuff like Axel Karakus. Marco Bailey. The Advent. You probably know, that kind of stuff. But this really has its own identity what is very good as a DJ. When it comes to the harder faster stuff. You will find this sort of songs. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zpU...pglnIS&index=49

Btw that is also my youttube channel I uploaded 80 DJ sets of famous Techno DJ's from old school to new stuff. From hard stuff Like Marco Remus and DJ Rush to soft stuff like Traum. You can check out these sets here. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?li...Hq22fvHP8gQxeJS

If think you are going to love it.

You still get techno above 130bpm, but it is definitely a minority now whereas a decade ago this kind of tempo would have been pretty standard. But one of the great things about techno is you can pitch the hell out of it and it usually works.

Things have definitely gotten more varied in terms of BPM though. A couple of years ago, hearing any modern/new school techno track above 130 was unusual, now there are plenty of producers regularily going in the 130s. I feel like the average BPM at techno party also has gone up a bit over the past couple of years. A lot of people still think that modern techno never goes above 130, but Berghain for example goes up to 135 and higher pretty regularily.

Yes I know everything about it. (I am 32) That is why I uploaded many Oldschool Techno albums. (They also used to bring out a lot of Techno CD's back in the day what is also become rare but I uploaded all my Techno CD/Albums on youtube.) But I gotten used to a slower rate. My favourite Producers they went from 140BPM to 126. Guys like Chris Liebing, Marco Baily. I use to hate the fact that those guys went slower. In fact my first Techno release was at 140 BPM. What is of course really oldschool loud, hard and fast. If you like to check it out. http://www.beatport.com/track/secre...nal-mix/5232748
So I know there is still a lot of fast stuff. But I gotten use to the new sound. And its tempo. Mainly because the guys that I liked that use to be fast. All gotten slower. And I gotten slow with them I guess. haha Maybe its a age thing. I gotten old and they too. So we need to go slower haha no just kidding. One of the things that I like about 126 BPM is that I also can mix it with Progressive house and Tech House. It gives me more freedom to play more genres that is the real main reason I prefer that speed.

Personally I don't like to pitch songs to much. I guess that is a curse of being a producer. You don't like the idea that other people would pitch up your songs because that is not the way you made it. So you don't like to do it yourself to other peoples work either :P
