It still pisses me off till this day how empty Sahara was with Sven Vath in 2011. If only they booked him again and placed him in the Yuma tent; I'd pay just to see that.

really?

Even Claude Von Stroke packed the tent on Sunday afternoon.
(and it was even more stupid sardine can crowded during the pop EDM DJ's later in the evening)

How lame is that empty (assuming VIP) area in the front right?

That's what I heard and what I saw, and again, I wasn't there very much, and as I said, I'm sure it was packed for certain sets.

In any case - Claude Von Stroke is not EDM (as you guys define it here on TA) so it's besides the discussion here.

I'm willing to stand corrected on this, because my sample size is low even when you include the people I talked to.

MR STROKE, dreamcrusher :sadgreen: (I just want that style of music to die god damnit)

edit: PS: the only set I walked up to (but not into) the Sahara for was new world punx and it was empty. We just wanted to check out the lighting at least once before the festival ended. We were goign to go inside but the music they were playing was so awful we just went back to the do lab.

that's the VVIP for things like artist bracelets, press, etc. VIP you buy doesn't get you in there.

biggest Sahara crowd i saw by far was for Duke Dumont.

I heard he was awful? were you there for it or saw on stream?

that VVIP area is the stupidest i've ever seen. "lets just put a nice open space and only allow the elite to hang out".

I hope the event planner/s die!

From the sound of it Coachella is very into the VIP culture.

you have no idea

So true. So many people I know who went are were VVIP and they really just hang around / socialize, it's really not about music for them, which is probably why those areas are empty. Too busy chilling with the acts or at SohoH.

What is this about Claude Von Stroke not being EDM? Are you talking about that silly genre definition thing as EDM being it's own cheesey micro genre? Or are you suggesting that he's now playing acoustic instruments and folk music during his sets?

I was given a VIP ticket this year and didn't bother going as the lineup just left me cold. ACDC? Are you ing kidding me. They were a complete embarrassment at the grammys.

Sure there's some tech/techno acts I would have liked to see but it just doesn't seem fitting in a giant commercial cluster that is Coach.

I mean, I really just can't bring myself to be at the same event where Axwell, Ingrosso and Guetta are still trying to milk it. Amateaur hour at it's finest and I want no part.

Just seems to be an Instagram opportunity these days for so many people that have no clue. In that respect, it's not really a music festival anymore.
