Suggest Good TA DJ Mixes

One of the things I like about a lot of the DJs on TA is that they are mainly or even exclusively DJs not producers (and I consider myself an aspiring producer). To me, DJs who aren't as focused on playing their own music or the music of their label are freer in many ways to focus on DJing as an art rather than DJing for promotion. That isn't to say having a track or 3 of your own in a 2 hour set is always bad, but for many it turns into 10-15 of their own tracks, good or not, and the rest recent releases from their friends label.

With that being said, I think there are a lot of talented DJ's out there, and many are not famous. TA can be a ponderous forum, and it isn't that easy to find some of the great sets, a lot of links are dead for example.

So, I thought it would be useful to have a thread where people suggest good sets from TAers. I would say, you can promote 1-2 of your own sets, but I think this should mainly be about suggesting other TAers sets. And for the most part, I think the thread should be more for memorable sets that stand the test of time, rather than just a weekly mix of what is being released that week.

So, an example of the type of set I am looking for is Glaciation from 2006 I believe:

Just recently I did a DJ set for the tranceaddict.com's Colors 2.

(also in my sig).

For years now I've been incorporating music from this message board into my DJ sets, especially the early years.

Is another set of mine that I enjoy, and most of it is music from the production studio or the music promotion section of the forums.

Interesting that you chose Glaciation for this, considering every track in that mix was produced by various TA members :p

The first person that pops to mind for this would be Spike Whitney (TA username "Sunsurge"). His Windmill Sessions Redux mixes are always a win, if you're into the more melodic side of electronica/progressive house/trance. There are currently 30 of them. Find them here on my server:

Nearly every mix in that folder is by a TA member, so knock yourselves out. Older stuff can be found here:

If you're ever having trouble sleeping, listen to one of Paulino's mixes. It'll put you right to sleep

Just like the good old days, haha.

My username is from a era long ago when I'd sit in my frat house every Thursday at 2 pm waiting for ASOT to start streaming on DI. The track list subforum on here was insane back in the day with everyone racing to see who could post the name of the new track first. I'm not really a modern trance guy.

I'll work on getting a new mix up though.

Just leaving this right over here...

I made several comments on your recent Colors mix soon after it was posted. Nice mix. It looks like one of my tracks is in the second mix! I'll give that one a listen soon.

Your site is a great resource for this topic. I'll check out the mixes you mention. Hope you keep updating the site with more sets both from the past and more recent.

New stuff gets added way less often these days. Years ago, finding decent hosting space for big files like this wasn't so easy. Now, everyone has a Soundcloud/Mixcloud account to use, so I only really add stuff if someone requests it (save for the Windmill Sessions mixes, which I just add to keep them all together, since they're awesome). Pretty cool catalog of TA sets over the years though :)

It's actually an album, not a set ;)
