was anyone into hard house back in the day? can't exactly remember the timeline, but it coincided somewhere with hard trance, for me at least. the euphoria albums brought it to popular forefront, nukleuz played their part. i have fond memories with the Tidy FC album
tidy used their recycle logo (upside down trash can with decks atop) not too dissimilar to the hooj choons stick man.
there must have been a non-commercial hard house scene before it exploded around 2002? what was it like? similar to the early 90's trance scene i guess. what's next, the commercialisation and death of prog/house?! :eyes: stay pure, diggers! :stongue:
i can always remember the legend of tony de vit, without really knowing anything other than he died. this is a superb record (BK mix) a real power tune, and a genuine non-goofy slice of hard house. shades of quench - dreams going on too.

Yeah I've got a whole stack of Nukleuz, Tidy & Stimulant vinyls (Including that one you posted). BK was just absolutely prolific at that time, could literally do no wrong.
A few personal favourites of mine were:
BK & Andy Farley - Khemikal Imbalance
BK - Bad Ass (James Lawson Remix)
BK & Nick Sentience - Flash (Nuw Idol Remix)
BK & Christopher Lawrence - Warp
BK & James Lawson - Calm Before The Storm
BK - P.O.S. 51
BK & Lab 4 - Final Chapter
BK - Revolution
Justin Bourne & Dynamic Intervention - Save Our Souls
Justin Bourne & Jay Pigeon - Hardcore Noise (James Lawson Remix)
Heaven's Cry - Til Tears Do Us Part (Flash Harry Remix)
Nick Sentience & Harry Diamond - Groove Switch
Praga Khan - Injected With A Poison (BK & Nick Sentience Remix)
Cortina - Music Is Moving (BK & dBm Amber Remix)
Madam Friction, BK & Cortina - Erection [Take it To The Top] (Edison Factor Remix)
My god there are some absolute TUNES amongst that lot.

Nick Sentience was the . Don't exactly know whether this is hard house or hard/tech trance, but it was featured on Reactivate 17 and is one of my fav. tunes from 2000:
This is a classic, also:
If that's hard house btw, it essentially sounds like tech-trance to me.

Pretty sure most of that stuff was considered (nu)NRG, not hard house. Well, maybe UK Hard House, but I always think of 'donk' music with that genre.

I know the stuff you mean, but most people I knew that were into UK Hardhouse stayed well clear of that particular brand of e.

Started it all.
^ interesting.
cortina - music is moving. bona fide CLASSIC, no less capable today, in a genre that typically doesn't age too well.
bk - bad ass (james lawson mix) superb tune, i think the only instance of the 'hoover' i can stand!
speaking of james lawson, the bassline in this :eyes:
and of nick sentience (didn't he produce for simon patterson?) - this remix of played alive is absolutely brutal. all melody stripped out and replaced with hard percussion, awesome :happy2:

As a NYer, I always had a different sound in mind when I hear "Hard House". Diva wails, massive drumrolls/buildups, lots of sirens and klaxons, and tribal beats.
rubez
always thought hard house was a UK-only thing.

Love that track, i still dig it out from time to time and would still play it in a a more banging set (although probably pitched down a wee bit these days lol)
The UK hard house scene was always split into two camps , the more northern tidy sound which didnt really take it too seriously and wasnt afraid of the donk and the london frantic sound which was far more tech-trancey.
Hard house in the US was the distorted 909 thing, in NYC it was closer to the Sound Factory tribal sound. The UK version of hard house this thread is about was an evolution of what was called nu-NRG or "hardbag" in the mid-90s.

this is the greatest hard house track for me, sure it samples that bizarre inc track from the early 90's.
so ing good, so addictive - it goes like a train. even today, even with the hoover, somehow it oozes class. the ultimate PLAY IT LOUD track. oblige :p

The UK hard house scene has that unique flavor that really catches my attention when i was heavily into Garage. I would say the best timeframe is between 1997-2000 where it stay truly underground without the tidy bull. After that it just went downhill incorporating trance elements where the term hard-house sounds questionable
